In a move that has shocked conservatives across social media, a niqab-wearing Muslim woman named Lakeshia M. Alston has filed to run as a Republican for North Carolina State Senate District 22 in the 2026 election. Alston is the only Republican in the race so far, and her history screams lifelong Democrat.
The shocking move has led many to question if this is an infiltration tactic from the left, designed to disrupt GOP primaries and hand victories to Democrats in the general election.
BREAKING: This person – Lakeshia M. Alston – has filed as a REPUBLICAN for North Carolina State Senate District 22 in the 2026 election
The ONLY Republican running.
They are trying to screw up the primaries.

Alston’s photo and registration went viral on X when conservative commentator Eric Daugherty posted a screenshot of her official filing and an image of her standing between the American and North Carolina flags, fully veiled in a black niqab that obscures her face except for her eyes.
The images, submitted to the Durham County Board of Elections, have gone viral, amassing thousands of likes and reposts as conservatives question the legitimacy of her candidacy.
Alston, a low-profile figure with no apparent campaign website or active social media presence tied to her run, filed her notice of candidacy on December 17, according to the Durham County Board of Elections.
Public records paint a clear picture of Alston’s political leanings. Voter history from the North Carolina State Board of Elections shows she’s been participating in Democratic primaries and general elections since at least 2008.

in NY or Californication, maybe
but in North Carolina?
where was, is the GOP in NC???????????????????????????????
asleep?????????????
not even one real Republican candidate?
Most of the GOP is just part of the Democrat Party.
someone is trolling the North Carolina GOP
Better get someone up NOW to run against the Muslim.
Good Gawd yawl !!
Are the R’s asleep at the wheel in N.C.?
“The shocking move has led many to question if this is an infiltration tactic”
Of course, it’s an infiltration tactic!
They got away with it in NYC.
Mamdani is NO SOCIALIST.
He’s an ISLAMIST.
Brainwashed pawns will vote for them.
You can’t tell who this is , it could be a bunch of people taking turns wearing that
Yep, she looks really conservative to me. /s
I’m starting to think that the R’s are content just to stop someone from having the majority but not interested in governing. Except for a small handful, including President Trump and most of his Cabinet, the bulk of the rest seem content in “splitting the baby”
That’s like the photos of the way the Epstein girls dressed, only with a bit more to cover the hair and shoulders...
“”in NY or Californication, maybe

It is sickening and if she won I would beat she changes party once in
I don’t get this. In my state, the Democrats have made a concerted effort to make sure they have a candidate in every partisan race down to the local level, even ones they know they can’t win just to stretch GOP spending and resources. Why doesn’t the GOP do this?
Apparently republicans in North Carolina are as rare as Real Men in Scotland...
He can be (and is) both. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Kind of like the democratic PARTY.
There are lots of nutcases in the Durham-Chapel Hill area.
Profile of North Carolina Senate District 22
Any Republican, whether a real one or a fake one, has a zero percent chance of winning in that district.
Also: the filing deadline in North Carolina was 9 days ago, for those who are shrieking that we need a "real" Republican to jump into the race (and lose by 50+ points). Maybe the overwhelming leftward lean of the district is why no actual Republican entered in the first place?
Let's save the hyperventilation for if/when Republicans begin failing to file in winnable districts.
It is part of the OBVIOUS conspiracy to dilute the 'Republican Party' on a path to destroy it. Republican voters are going to have to recognize this and be sure to provide legitimate candidates for public office ❗
