President Donald Trump on Friday cast himself as the ultimate arbiter of any peace deal between Ukraine and Russia, in an exclusive conversation with POLITICO.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to meet with Trump in Florida on Sunday and told reporters he’s bringing with him a new 20-point plan for peace. The framework includes a proposed demilitarized zone and the meeting is expected to focus on U.S. security guarantees.
But in an interview, Trump appeared lukewarm to Zelenskyy’s latest overture and in no rush to endorse the Ukrainian president’s proposal.
“He doesn’t have anything until I approve it,” Trump said. “So we’ll see what he’s got.”
The president’s comments underscore the degree to which Ukraine’s fate rests on convincing Trump that it is conceding enough to satisfy a president who, at times, has appeared inclined to lean toward Russia if it means an end to the war. Russia has moved very little from its maximalist position and has not reacted to the latest proposal. The U.S., meanwhile, has pushed Zelenskyy to move off his original demands and Trump has often seemed to lose patience with the haggling.

Why is Trump having exclusive coversations with Pollutico??
Ask him.
“... lose patience with the haggling.”
A while back, I happened upon a church “rummage sale” in a neighborhood of San Francisco with a fairly large population of former residents of the old Soviet Union... folks who likely made up a significant segment of the rummage-sale customers. On one of the tables, there was a prominent sign in Russian with something like “Торг запрещен” (forgive me, Russian linguists, if that’s off). I asked one of the rummage sale workers what it said, and she said, “Haggling is forbidden.” My point is that these are people for whom haggling is second nature.
Here is what this is all about.
The EU has told him they don’t want to send all that money and he needs to persuade Trump to fund the required years of activity. So this is all about getting Trump to pay, for something.
And while he is in the US he’ll meet with Lindsey, Schumer, Jeffries and anyone who tells him they can force Trump to do things.
“The EU has told him they don’t want to send all that money and he needs to persuade Trump to fund the required years of activity. So this is all about getting Trump to pay, for something.”
Either that or he’s here to give $$$$ to a hitman to knock off Trump.
That’s what Zelensky really wants.
The EU really wants that too.
So do the demoncrats.
I wouldn’t doubt that Zelensky meets a few democrats on the sly too.
Trump knows what Putin will sign and this won’t be it. Z will try to look like he’s doing something until the day he disappears to wherever he sends his booty for safekeeping.
Maybe President Trump should merely arrest and disappear this corrupto-crat former comedian...and let the cards fall where they may. Enough already.
