One of the survivors of the terror attack at a Bondi Beach Hanukkah celebration said four police officers just “froze” during the 20-minute rampage on Sunday that killed 11.
Eyewitness Shmulik Scuri said he was with his family when the two suspects began firing at the crowd of worshippers from a nearby bridge.
“For 20 minutes. They shoot, shoot. Change magazines. And just shoot,” the witness told reporters.
“Twenty minutes, there was four policemen there. Nobody give fire back. Nothing. Like they froze,” he said of the slow response. “I don’t understand why.”.”
When he was asked who the gunmen were targeting, he responded, “Everyone. Jews. Men, old, kids, everyone! It doesn’t matter.”
Scuri noted that one of the gunmen from the top of the bridge was freely reloading a rifle and handgun as he was firing at the crowd uninterrupted.
Footage shows the two terrorists, at least one of whom had a shotgun, firing round after round from a bridge overlooking the family-friendly Chanukah by the Sea 2025 event.
It wasn’t until a local good Samaritan, a local fruit seller, disarmed one of the terrorists that police appeared to return fire, taking out one of the shooters, video shows.
Among the dead are a 12-year-old and British-born Rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41.
One of the suspected gunmen was killed at the scene while the other was taken into custody in critical condition, officials said.
One of the suspects has been identified as Naveed Akram, according to Australian media, with police raiding his home in the aftermath of the attack.
Improvised explosive devices were recovered from the deceased gunman’s vehicle at Bondi Beach, according to police.
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns condemned the shooting as an “evil” attack targeting the local Jewish community during the holidays.

Engaging two men with long guns in what looked to be a pretty good position would be daunting, I would think.
Witnesses at these kinds of events always see important things—that are later buried once the official narrative is generated.

That is a legitimate reason for not immediately firing back.
It is not a legitimate reason for freezing.
At a minimum the cops should have been simultaneously...
(1) Calling for lots of backup
(2) Calmly and quietly changing position to get to a location where firing back was a reasonable option.
For hand guns to be effective against long guns is they have to be fired at the people with long guns.
In the one video one can see a armed police officer using a tree as a barricade from maybe 30 yards and not firing a shot.
Another police women hiding behind. a vehicle.
Returning fire with the arms you have works.
Wow fire all 4 of those worthless cops. What a pathetic country Australia has allowed itself to become. And even after such a horrific tragedy they just experienced they still won’t do anything about these Muslims. Bondi Beach is 4 miles east of downtown Sydney.
Remember Uvalde(sp?) TEXAS, where police inexplicably delayed going into a school where a shooting was occurring?
We have to wait for all the facts to come in. But I wonder if this is another case of the chain of command not being able to respond to a fluid situation in progress? Police not able to make the decision to take action without their commanding officer? Were they paralyzed because of not having had training on how to deal with a situation like this?
I know we have to wait for facts to come in.But if there were really police on hand who did nothing, this is damning.
