I would think it would depend on whether the murderers were members of a ‘protected group’. Hate white male murderers, you’re fine. Hate a muslim or trans murderer, you’re in a heap of trouble.

Does this mean its illegal for Canadians to speak hatefully about Hitler? Hate speech about Hitler is hurtful to Nazis everywhere and could even lead some to have low self esteem and maybe even lead to violence.

Canada’s Criminal Code, which bans what the government deems “hatred against any identifiable group,”

First of all: You can't ban "hatred." "Hatred" is a mere emotion. This would be like banning "ennui" or "nostalgia."

Secondly: Under this new law, "White" would probably be deemed "too broad" to be classified as an "identifiable group."
