Jaw-dropping video shows the wild moment a plane “drop[s] out of the sky” and smashes into a car on a busy Florida Interstate, injuring the driver.
The “fixed-wing multi-engine aircraft” crashed into a 2023 Toyota Camry in the southbound lane of I-95 in Cocoa, Fl. around 5:45 p.m. Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Shocking, up-close dashcam footage shows the plane diving into the busy rush-hour roadway and careening straight into the car while attempting an emergency landing.
The plane rear-ended the Camry and appeared to bounce on top of it before crashing down slightly to its left — sending sparks flying, according to the clip filmed from the car right behind the Camry.
The 57-year-old female Camry driver was taken to a local hospital and miraculously suffered only minor injuries, FHP authorities said.
The 27-year-old male pilot from Orlando and his 27-year-old male passenger from Temple Terrance were not injured during the freak crash, the officials added.
The pilot and passenger, who have not yet been named, remained on the scene, the FHP said.
“We just saw this plane drop out of the sky,” witness Jim Coffey told Spectrum News 13.
The plane was mere seconds away from colliding with Coffey’s vehicle, but instead flew over and crashed into the other car, he recalled.
“I noticed it was there, because there’s a plane right there, I was like, ‘Hopefully it lands to the side,” his son, Peter Coffey, who also witnessed the crash, said.
“I thought it might maybe aim around and not hit the car, but bam, the wheel just smacked right dab on the back of the car.”
“Fortunately, the car didn’t roll, it kind of mashed and went to the side,” Jim Coffey said.

Great. Now I have to find my jaw
“Now I have to find my jaw”
Look under the Barcalounger. That’s where everything I lose goes. I think my sanity has slipped into the mechanism, though.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the Toyota started up and drove off under it’s own power. 😏
I used to be an EMT. I won’t own a recliner because we always found them at heart attack calls. I have a marble-topped dresser that can’t be moved. It’s always under there. I need to hire a child just to pick up things off the floor.
“Boy, go under that dresser and fetch up Pawpaw’s jaw”
The reckless flight school in Daytona that
hands out pilot licenses to foreigners and trained
the 911 pilots is still open and training the next terrorists .
Imagine the nightmare world with flying cars and grandpa behind the Wheel .
Just imagine the nightmare world with granny and these flying cars Killing innocent people in there homes . That's coming quickly .
Wow, the ultimate Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment for that driver!
LOL!
Did he have the ceremonial Sake Toast beforehand?
Even more often, you probably saw heart meds! Avoid!
I’d give the pilot much credit for getting the plane down with only one minor injury. Can’t help but think that in an emergency trying to land with traffic on an interstate, if there were no open fields around would be the safest thing to do. Of course you’d have to hope that the people in cars would quickly figure out what was going on when an airplane came down between cars going 70 mph. Much better than crashing into a shopping mall or hotel.
There’s a story that’s hard to top.
“Oh yeah? Well, I was rear-ended by an airplane!”
Actually, no. People would start to take them and then stop. I am surprised how common that is. Three of my grandparents died young from diseases cured by medicine now.
Dark Humour is still funny. I snorted.
I think you missed my point, that being “correlation is not causation.”
Incidentally, one of my grandparents died instantly of a heart attack in a recliner. Everyone considered it a blessing, the alternative being to live long enough for the pain, the paramedics, the ER, the paddles, the strangers, the entire hospital experience.
There is something to be said for going “gentle into that good night.”
Yeah. Mom is nearing the end with Alzheimer’s. I don’t want to go like that.
Props aren’t bent. Dead stick landing?
