Former prime minister Naftali Bennett says he will support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request for a pardon if it is conditioned on the premier’s retirement from politics.
“In recent years, the State of Israel has been led into chaos and to the brink of a civil war that threatens the very existence of the state,” Bennett writes on X.
“In order to rescue Israel from the chaos, I will support a binding arrangement that includes a respectful retirement from political life alongside the end of the trial,” he says. “That way, we can let it go, unite, and rebuild the state together.”
A Bennett- and Yair Lapid-led coalition unseated Netanyahu as prime minister for 18 months from mid-2021, before a Netanyahu-led bloc won the elections in November 2022. Opinion polls consistently indicate that a Bennett-led party and bloc would be best-placed to defeat Netanyahu and his allies in the next elections, which must be held by next October.

In other words, he’s been too successful of a Prime Minister.
Go to Hades Naftali.
Screw Bennett.
successful?? where have you been living? obviously not Gaza.woefully misinformed,
I meant Netanyahu.
He is 76 which is no longer considered ancient except to 20 year olds, but has had a long time heart condition with a pacemaker, hernia surgery, prostate surgery and in July 2025 had dehydration from eating spoiled food.
He may wish to retire if he believes he has done enough to hold Israel together through these stressful years.
Israel is an example of what not to do in government: Since the 1949 election, Israel has had 102 past and present members of the ruling Knesset. Including in the Knesset are Jews in sects that do not believe Israel should be allowed to exist until the Messiah comes. These often make temporary coalitions to pass bills together.
Meant to write : “has had 102 Arab members of the ruling Knesset.”
How about....No
successful?? where have you been living? obviously not Gaza.
Bennett is obviously antisemitic.
The nasty JINO puke Bennett has spoken.
Naftali you aren’t worthy to tie Bibi’s shoes. You’ll take your place in Israelite history as a lowlife creepy villain, along with so many other traitors to righteousness. Scripture is full of them.
I think, if the Israeli people support him it’s because they think he’s been successful.
But I guess he’s a failur to you because he couldn’t anticipate everything that could happen.
Bibi is more popular here than in his own country.
And for the record, this isn’t his country.
What is a better alternative to Bibi?
What isn’t?
By my calculations if he serves until Dec 8 2027 he will be the youngest and oldest Prime Minister of Israel - the Cecil Underwood of Israeli politics.
Names?
Bibi may be considered by history as the man who single-handedly saved Israel, not only from Hamas but also from worldwide anti-semitism.
