You are the best educators of your children. The Public Indoctrination Centers are there to make them depended on the Government. If they are ignorant, they will believe what the government say. The solution is HOMESCHOOL!!

My wife and I sacrificed to send our two kids through private school.

Those that can afford to are leaving.

I feel very sorry and terrible for parents who want to put their children in private schools and cannot possibly afford it.

Exactly. Plus, proponents of home schooling also don't realize how many single parents there are. A single mom, for example, has to work full time, normally. She'll just have energy enough to prepare supper when she gets home.

I don’t want to pile on here. Just wanted to explain how it’s done: ‘Homeschool’ is a misnomer. It doesn’t mean ‘school at home.’ It doesn’t even mean the parents do all the teaching. It only means the students aren’t enrolled in a K-12 school; instead, their parents direct and oversee their education.

So, for example, students enrolled full-time in a K-12 virtual school aren’t homeschooled. A school directs their education. They are school students who learn online at home.

OTOH, students who are not enrolled in a school are ‘homeschooled,’ but their parents might put them in independent classes, enroll them in college courses, hire tutors, or get together with other families to teach the kids. It probably should be called parent-directed education, instead of ‘homeschooling.’

“a greater percentage than ever before—are reading at the ‘below basic’ level.”

They don’t say that the “basic level” is the current standard which has been considerably dumbed down over the years.

If they tested using 1950 standards the numbers would be even worse.

All good examples.

The practice of integrating disabled kids in with regular and AP kids is a travesty. The teacher must perform to help the lowest coming denominator and the others get short shift. It’s so unfair to the AP kids especially.
