Shocking past of 'mother and businesswoman' whose ICE detainment has made liberals howl with fury

A Vietnamese mother and business owner whose deportation sparked liberal outrage has an extensive criminal record, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Melissa Tran, 43, has criminal convictions including grand larceny, multiple counts of forgery and fraud, DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.

The mom-of-four is the owner of Nail Palace and Spa, a nail salon in Hagerstown, Maryland where she had become a pillar of the community.

Tran arrived in the US on a Green Card at the age of 11 after fleeing from Vietnam in 1993.

But her world came crashing down when she was unexpectedly detained by ICE in May during one of her routine check-ins in Baltimore.

Her arrest triggered uproar, with protestors rallying to get her out of custody.

They held demonstrations in front of her salon, wearing 'Bring Melissa Home' shirts while chanting the same slogan.

After five months of being held in facilities in Louisiana, Arizona and Washington, a judge ordered her release last month.

But despite her release, Tran was deported to Vietnam on Monday after her homeland agreed to issue her a passport, WBAL-TV reported.

Chan learned of the development during an ICE check-in last Friday.

Tran has been obliged to complete monthly mandatory immigration check-ins for 20 years after pleading guilty in Fairfax County, Virginia, to stealing checks from a doctor's office where she worked as a receptionist in 2001.

A judge issued a final order for her to be deported in 2004, but her removal was delayed by a Vietnamese ban on immigrants who arrived in the US before July 12, 1995, from returning.

Her lawyer confirmed that she landed in Vietnam's capital, Hanoi, on Wednesday, CBS News reported.

Criminal history and a deportation order. Little or no sympathy.

Contrary to the article, the idiot judge and she knew this was going to happen.

You sort of missed the important stuff in the article.

‘Mong Tuyen Thi Tran, is a criminal illegal alien from Vietnam, with criminal convictions including grand larceny, multiple counts of forgery and fraud,’ McLaughlin wrote using Tran’s Vietnamese name.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, McLaughlin added that Tran’s rap sheet also includes writing fraudulent checks. A judge issued a final order of removal against her in 2004.

‘President Trump and Secretary Noem’s message is clear: criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the United States,’ McLaughlin said.

According to court records reviewed by The Baltimore Banner, Tran pleaded guilty to stealing the checks more than 20 years ago because her ‘abusive and manipulative’ boyfriend at the time needed money.

Tran spent four months behind bars and paid all the money back, but a judge ordered her deportation shortly after she served her time.

Since her conviction, Tran has married another Vietnamese immigrant, Danny Hoang opened a successful business and started a family.

‘I know what I did was wrong, and I take responsibility for that,’ Tran told WJZ in October.

She has had a final order of removal against her in 2004. That was 21 years ago.

I suspect she will find Vietnam a better place than when she left and will be able to live quite comfortably is she sells he US assets. Article said she “fled” Vietnam at age 11. That would be 1993, some 15 years after the end of the war.

A criminal, violated rules of a visa holder, never tried to become a citizen.

Prioritize getting rid of these.

When is Van Hollen going to Hanoi for a Mai Tai with his “Maryland woman” constituent? Seems he’s now kind of required to consistent and even-handed in his political ploy.

That is so true. Mrs Con and I visited Vietnam last spring. What a beautiful place with a bright future.

I predict the coastline between Cam Ranh and Nha Trang will be one of the best tourist destinations within a few years.

Mrs Tran will be fine.

All of the left’s heroes seem to be liars, cooks and failures. Funny that.

Owning a nail salon makes you a "pillar of the community"? Seriously?

The Democrats love their criminals. Defending criminals seems to be the only thing that gets the Democrats passionate and excited nowadays (beyond their all-consuming hatred of Trump of course).

Even graduated from college at some point, likely paid by taxpayers.
