A bill proposing the death penalty for “terrorists” passed a first reading in Israel’s parliament on Monday – a measure that could apply to Palestinians convicted of deadly attacks against Israelis.
The amendment to the penal code, demanded by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and approved by the National Security Committee, was approved by 39 votes to 16. It must pass a second and third reading before becoming law. The vote went ahead amid a tense truce with Hamas in the Gaza war that had raged since October 7, 2023.
While the death penalty exists for a small number of crimes in Israel, it has become a de facto abolitionist country – the Nazi Holocaust perpetrator Adolf Eichmann was the last person to be executed in 1962.

That’s how you fix it...this way when they want a prisoner for hostage exchange...all you can give them is the dead body.
FINALLY!!!!! Justice for terrorists! There are Left-wing forces in Israel who will stop this bill out of a “moral dilemma”. So many Jews have been murdered, especially since the “Oslo Peace Accords” that there should be no more trades where we see one Jew for 1500 PALEOstinian terrorists. Kill them all.
Israel should have been executing the terrorists all along.

I agree with you, but it’s a difficult position for them, across all political spectrum.
The Holocaust, lots of religious views, general history made the death penalty a major point of contention historically.
I think the few people they executed have been literal head Nazis back in the 1950s.

Implement a death penalty and there becomes little reason for terrorists to hold hostages. Build a prison underground, keep it dark 24 hours a day, and use isolation techniques to take away all senses. That will mentally break down the prisoner.
I hope it specifies that it is to be applied immediately, and not drawn out for decades.
should be trial, sentence, and then IMMEDIATE execution.

Seems fair for people who lop off heads of women and children. In fact, why should they have a day in court? Tit-for-tat sounds reasonable to me.
Eichman was was convicted in December and hung in June. He’s the only execution in Israel’s history unless you count a spy executed during the 48 war.
Of course this in 2025 not 1961, probably will be longer
