Let’s exchange Rand Paul for Fetterman. I don’t care about abortion any more.

There are times for being a maverick, and there are times for being a team player. Rand sucks when it comes to the latter.

The Bill has to go back to the House for a vote. As far as Gov.track.us, the house hasn't conducted any business since 9/19/25 when they passed the original CR Bill and sent it to the Senate. Once the House passes it, it goes to the President.

"Johnson said members should begin returning to Washington 'right now' in anticipation of a vote later this week." Tomorrow, Veteran's Day is a Federal holiday. They'll drag their feet coming back.

What did Rand accomplish? What did he hope to accompalish? I know that he’s been high on his own supply about wanting KY farmers being able to grow THC-laden hemp, but every senator has his pet causes too. Why is Rand so special?

The shortest estimate was the time it takes the Senate to send the bill to them.

When was the last time republicans won a shutdown standoff? Can’t remember once.

Member of the House and Senate should be getting $100/day, for every day they serve, no more.
That position wasn't created for grifters/lifetime careers/cheats...
It was created to take care of constituents, which they haven't done for a LONG time.

The vote for final passage, which only required a simple majority, is interesting. The same Senate Democrats who voted to break the filibuster also voted for the deal that will end the Schumer Shutdown

I have to admit that this surprised me.

I expected the Democrats to return to the fold on the final vote because their vote was no longer required. The Democrats could honestly go back to their constituents and say that they voted against the CR, and when pressed they could say that they were for Senate procedures but against the bill itself.

To many, it's a distinction without a difference, but it's a move that's been done many times before when history only remembers the final roll call, not the procedural votes that precede it.

Now, these eight Democrat Senators are forever marked as collaborating with the enemy. On the other hand, politicos like the members of the Senate know that the damage was done by the cloture vote, so these eight Democrats might have been thinking "in for a penny, in for a pound" at this point.

Very brave if them.
Good thing none live in MN.
Timmy Tampon would have them shot.

Now, these eight Democrat Senators are forever marked as collaborating with the enemy.

I don't follow democrat politics all that much, but I think the dems picked those senators because they either aren't running for reelection or don't live in terribly progressive states.

They had to end the shutdown for air safety, getting federal workers paychecks and etc. Schumer didn't have any backing from the gov unions and the American people. ~70% of people want illegals gone, so demanding illegals get healthcare funding was a losing cause.

Probably so. I suspect the only true believer in ending the shutdown is Fetterman. The rest of ‘em ... pffft!
