It’s the perfect setup—for them.
Meanwhile, nearly $200 billion a year flows to insurers and hospitals in the name of making healthcare “more affordable,” yet medical care remains out of reach for millions. The winners are always the same group: lawmakers, health insurance executives, and hospital system CEOs. The losers are the rest of us—families and workers who can’t afford the care they’ve already been taxed to pay for, even though we were promised that we’d be saving money because of this system. I spend thousands of dollars a year for coverage that doesn’t cover diddly squat until I max out my deductible.

We can do better. Democrats use the addict plan for everything. And what’s the addict plan? It’s where short term choices are a disaster for the long term.
On our side we need to stop pretending this issue will just go away if we ignore it long enough and with enough passion. Take the issue away by coming up with a medical system that incentivizes the rational choices a careful family would make. Let strggling citizens have ‘accounts’ with a few thousand in them - and money that’s NOT spent on medical care in a year is ‘refunded’ as a percentage to the citizens a few weeks before Christmas. It’s the citizens job to find a decent but not too expensive a doctor... Then random checks of hospitals and nursing homes rather than one big inspectiom and tie reinbusement to thoss randaom (ckeck 30 items and walk out inspections) Short staffed? The institution loses a percentage of what they get paid per paitiesn. Rather than bonus paid for short shifting patiesns bonuses will be paid for keeping cost down by passing all the ‘inspections’ and keeping the gov reimbursements high. Other incentives include things like centralized offices with labs and equipment in place so citizens arem’t running all over town to satisfy testing requirements. AI can do all the first level diagnosis... Insurance companies aren’t even part of the first thousand a family spends...
