Molly McNearney, Jimmy Kimmel's wife and the co-head writer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, just gave the world a front-row seat to what happens when politics becomes your entire personality. During a November 6 appearance on the We Can Do Hard Things podcast, she proudly admitted to bombarding her family with desperate emails before the election, begging them not to vote for Donald Trump.
Imagine thinking this is a good idea.
"I sent many emails to my family right before the election, pleading, 'Please don't vote for him. Here are 10 reasons why you shouldn't,'" McNearney confessed. Roughly 90% of her family ignored her messages. The few who bothered to respond apparently did so in ways McNearney described as "quite bizarre" or "truly insane." But if you're willing to cut ties with family over politics, how much stock can we put in her assessment of their responses?
And cut ties she did.
McNearney has severed relationships with family members who voted for Trump, saying she has "lost relationships with people in my family because of it." Her reasoning? "It hurts me so much because of the personal relationships I now have, where my husband is out there fighting this man, and to me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband and me and our family."

IIRC correctly, Kimmell was married to his first wife on the Man Show, then left her for Sarah Silverman.
I did not tune in to “the man show” to watch Jimmy Kimmell.

I think she is right. We are on separate universes with opposing values and there is no commonality any more.
The Kimmells are the kind of people who would get into a seven year ‘war’ over their neighbor installing a Brick BBQ in their own backyard, but two inches over the property line. Perpetual Karens, the both of them!

Politics before family. What other priorities does she have that are totally screwed up?
People like the Kimmels think that their opinion about anything should matter to others, especially their family and friends. I hate to break it to them, but us “normies” don’t care what they think.
Oh isn’t Molly a dream. In desperate emails she commanded her family “do not vote for Trump”. Her family voted for Trump and now Molly is red hot mad. Imagine how humiliated she is.’ Her family voted for their interests, not Molly’s commands. The Golddigger was foiled by common sense.
I had no idea who this Kimmel character was before the current brouhaha. Didn’t care before. Don’t care now.
