Newsom: ‘Shameful’ Trump Using Hungry People as a ‘Bargaining Chip’
Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) said President Donald Trump was using hungry people as bargaining chips in the government shutdown.
Host Jake Tapper said, “So there are a lot of repercussions for this government shutdown. obviously, air travel is a mess and then SNAP benefits, food benefits, food SNAP benefits for 42 million Americans. As we sit here, the Trump administration is fighting a court order to tell them to pay out full snap benefits. vice president jd vance called the judge’s ruling that that the U.S. needs to pay, that the Trump administration needs to pay these SNAP benefits. He called the ruling absurd. He said the administration is, quote, not going to do it under the orders of a federal judge. Now, I know that’s 5 million Californians receive SNAP benefits.”
Newsom said, “5.5. and the difference is in California, they were fully restored in my state through November. That said, they obviously have not been in the vast majority of states. But think about the state of mind of the vice president. How do they, how do they honestly, how do you square the circle when you go to a prayer breakfast? How do you square the circle? I mean, Old Testament, New Testament, what’s the fundamental thing that connects? From John to Matthew to Proverbs it’s this notion of hunger feeding the poor, the sick, the tired, this it’s not an option. It’s central to advancing God’s will. I mean, the fundamental point that we’ll be using, because this is what it’s about. The federal government said it in the lawsuit that they want to use it as a bargaining chip, a bargaining chip to end this shutdown. That’s shameful. It’s never happened in U.S. history.”

Newsom: It’s Not Rule of Law Anymore — ‘It’s the Rule of Don’
Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Gov. Gay-vin Newsom (D-CA) said the United States did not have rule of law it anymore.
Instead, he proclaimed the country now has the “rule of Don” referring to President Donald Trump.
Newsom said, “It goes back to the federalization of the National Guard. I want to remind folks, it’s not 2oo or 300 in California, it was 4000 National Guard were federalized, 700 active duty Marines were not sent overseas. they were sent to the second largest city in the United States of America.”
He added, “I think more and more people are waking up to what’s going on. And I set it up there. It’s not about the rule of law anymore, it’s the rule of Don. He’s picking and choosing, deciding which court decisions he agrees with. He’s quite literally running an extortion racket, and not just with universities like UCLA and others in California, but he’s doing it with law firms. He’s doing it to media organizations. He’s doing it with some of the most well-heeled and powerful corporate leaders. You’re seeing state capitalism, not just crony capitalism. What is the one thing everything has in common? The tariffs. The tariffs for him are all about leverage and about the game that he’s advancing.”

FYI, the one red CD is south and east across the Potomac, away from the District. The western Appalachian portion of Maryland has been neutered and gerrymandered with nearby DC areas, across the river from deep blue Loudon country VA.

Sunday on ABC’s “Face the Nation,” Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) declared President Donald Trump had “cut off food from people,” blaming “cruelty.”

STEPHANOPOULOS: I do want to talk about this government shutdown. You saw the interview there with Secretary Bessent. President Trump has called for an end to the filibuster. He says that’s not the administration’s position. He’s also called for this direct subsidies to the American people for — to pay for health care, but he says that’s not the official position of the government, of the administration either. He says, it’s just up to Democratic senators to turn around. Is that going to happen?
SCHIFF: No. I certainly hope it isn’t going to happen, if millions of people are going to retain their health coverage and not have to pay these exorbitant premium increases. George, I’m hearing from people all over California, people with pre-existing conditions, people who tell me their premiums are going to go up $1,000 a month, that they’re going to have to drop their coverage. They know that’s really bad for them and their families. And we can easily estimate the millions of people that are going to lose access to quality care, and the tens of thousands of lives that will be lost. So we need to end this, we propose something I think very reasonable. It was a compromise, certainly wasn’t everything I want, which is a permanent extension of the tax credits. We said, let’s extend existing law for a year, give us more time to work on this, and re-open the government.
And the result from the Republicans was — from the Senate Republicans, no, from the House Republicans, we’re staying on vacation. And for the president, I’m going out to play golf. And that’s where we are, while people are hurting. And one thing that is just so shocking to me, George, in the midst of all of this, they’re appealing to the Supreme Court for the right to cut off food from people. Who does that? Who works so hard? Who goes all the way through the court system to cut food from people who need it right now? But that’s where they’re coming from. The cruelty is part of the policy.

Obama EXPLODES in Rage as Sen. John Kennedy Uncovers $500M Obama Foundation “Slush Fund” Scandal
Chaos erupted on Capitol Hill today when Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) unleashed a blistering 47-minute takedown during a Senate Appropriations hearing, accusing the Obama Foundation of operating what he called “the slickest money-laundering operation since Capone wore spats.”
Armed with freshly declassified IRS audits and whistleblower documents, Kennedy revealed:
• Over $500 million in donor funds “vanished” into undocumented “global initiatives” with zero paper trail
• $740,000 annual salary to Valerie Jarrett while the Presidential Center sat half-built for 8 years
• Only $1 million deposited into the promised $470 million taxpayer protection fund (meant to cover cost overruns on public park land)
• Mysterious $93 million in “consulting fees” paid to firms linked to Obama campaign bundlers
