Russian Foreign Minister says no limits for military cooperation with Iran

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says the sky is the limit when it comes to military and technical cooperation with Iran, adding Russia is currently meeting Iran’s needs.

The top diplomat made the comment when asked, at a press conference, whether Russia was supplying Iran with S-400 missile systems and Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets.

Iran and Russia officially started to implement a 20-year comprehensive strategic partnership treaty nearly a month ago, signaling a significant step towards deepening bilateral ties between the two countries.

Under the treaty signed in January 2025, Russia and Iran are committed to helping each other counter common “security threats” and exchange intelligence in that direction. The agreement also stipulates that if either side is subjected to aggression, the other will not provide “assistance to the aggressor.”

…Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly requested last month that Russian President Vladimir Putin desist from selling potential new weaponry to Iran. Russia's envoy to Iran affirmed in an interview published Saturday that Moscow-Tehran relations remain impervious to external influence.

Russia only needs to remember its history, especially the narrative regarding the Bolsheviks, to be motivated for such endeavor.

Russia, despite its massive size, is a mostly land-locked country.

They have a European outlook, but must run a narrow gauntlet of its enemies to access the Atlantic. The same with the Black Sea. Its Arctic and Pacific coasts are still mostly undeveloped.

So Russia has always looked South. Iran is their access to the Indian Ocean, as it is China’s also. For China especially, Iran is a key terminus in its “Belt and Road” Plans.

We should never make the mistake of believing that Russia is aligned with western values in any way. At its core, Russia has always been an eastern despotism.

The Iranians are being duped by Russia.

Russia is no longer capable of producing new S-400s and those that they still have, are needed to defend their airspace. So, no air defense weapons for you, Iran.

But, even if they could get S-400s, Israel and the U.S. could easily take them out of commission, like Ukraine is doing in their war now.

The Su-35 fighter jets would be easily taken out by Israel's F-35s and our F-22 Raptors. But even there, Russia is no longer able to produce any new fighter jets. Perhaps they can give away the ones that were destroyed by Ukraine with their surprise drone attack a few months ago.

That deal is just pure propaganda, which Russia and Iran have more of than any other country in the world.

So, the strategy is to bleed Russia’s military resources in Venezuela and Iran too?

Can you imagine living in a country where your success or failure on the battlefield relies on North Korea and Iran?

Just pathetic.

But yeah…Nuke Torpedo!
