Trump Administration to Partially Cover SNAP Benefits Amid Schumer Shutdown After Two Obama Judges FORCE Use of Contingency Funds

Two activist judges appointed by Barack Obama have forced the Trump administration to dip into emergency contingency funds to partially cover SNAP benefits for millions of Americans caught in the crossfire of the ongoing “Schumer Shutdown.”

This blatant interference from the bench underscores the deep-state sabotage that’s been plaguing President Trump’s second term from day one, as radical Democrats led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer hold the nation’s budget hostage.

The shutdown was entirely avoidable. President Trump and House Republicans put forward a clean funding bill that prioritized border security, military readiness, and tax relief for hardworking families.

But Schumer and his band of obstructionists in the Senate refused to budge, insisting on billions more for their pet projects like funding illegal immigrants’ healthcare.

On Friday, two Obama judges, John McConnell in Providence and Indira Talwani in Boston, ruled that the Trump administration must use available contingency funds to continue SNAP benefits despite the shutdown.

The judgment came in response to lawsuits filed by Democrat‐led states, cities, and non‐profits arguing that halting benefits would cause irreparable harm to tens of millions of Americans.

According to a sworn declaration filed in federal court by Patrick A. Penn, Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services, the USDA was compelled by district court orders out of Massachusetts and Rhode Island to “deplete SNAP contingency funds completely.”

The filing reveals that the USDA began FY2026 with roughly $6 billion in contingency funds, much of which was already spent on administrative costs and nutrition block grants for Puerto Rico and American Samoa.

Now, thanks to court mandates, only $4.65 billion remains, enough to pay half of what is owed to current SNAP recipients for November

Since not all of this can be paid, Trump should troll the Rats by only funding SNAP in the Red States that have scrubbed their beneficiaries of illegals. The Dept. of Ag can tell the judge they are just making sure that only eligible Americans can the benefits. Let the Rats howl!

These two jugheads need their keisters thrown in prison. They are not authorized to direct the functions of the Executive branch or make laws. That’s the legislatures job. Lock these two idiots from New England up.

It will be interesting to see how much these black robed Nazis will try to micromanage the executive branch in a shutdown without funds to disburse. Trump can only fund the Red States, or Red congressional districts. Let those in the Blue States and Blue districts get POed at the Rats.

Agreed. I believe the contingency SNAP funds are meant for natural disasters. If the judges want those funds used for something else, they should write their congressmen like the rest of us. Except for the power as voting American citizens, the judicial branch has no authority on how funds are appropriated.

Advantage Dems. Every day this shutdown lasts, is another day that Trump gets stalled out at getting his agenda through Congress. This has been the Dems plan, since before the shutdown.

Chuckie and Hakeeeeeeeem J are not as stupid as you think.

Trump Executive Order: Everyone currently receiving SNAP benefits must show up in person and present proof of legal citizenship

So once again this administrations rolls over and waves its paws in the air as two low level district judges force us to spend money on their constituents -and all the rest of them across the whole country. Are they even appealing this madness?

“”They gonna prosecute for using money NOT for its intended use?””

Contingency to me means an unknown event...emergencies - weather related - tornadoes, floods, fires etc.? Or are funds for FEMA set aside for those CONTINGENCIES?

There are too many POTS in DC...full of $$$. The president is being directed to DEPLETE the contingency fund? To those of us who contributed to that POT, we object to depleting ANY funds.

How about DISCRETIONARY funds? What’s in that pot? Anything after the politicians are finished with their pet projects/appropriations?

We need a tutorial OR the politicians do!!!!

Remember what State and Federal Courts told us in 2020 and 2021? The only party that would have standing to bring a case regarding the way a particular law is being implemented is the legislature that wrote that particular law. That’s it, that’s all. ACLU has no standing, tax payers have no standing. State AG’s have no standing. NGO’s have no standing. Political parties have no standing. These cases are being allowed to proceed without proper Plaintiffs by left-biased Federal Judges.

The judges want everybody to remember who is in charge in our country——them.

They are legends in their own minds.

Actually, I think that the Administration should put the 2 judges on notice that if Contingency Funds are later needed that the Administration will either turn to pull funds from the Judicial Branch of Government or require the Courts to force the Legislative Branches to allow the Executive Branch to move moneys from other Legislatively authorized programs.

These judges need to feel some heat and fear in case there is a need for those contingency funds.

Perhaps, the “temporary solution” is in the courts (as much as I don’t like the idea).

“...the USDA began FY2026 with roughly $6 billion in contingency funds, much of which was already spent on administrative costs and nutrition block grants for Puerto Rico and American Samoa.

Now, thanks to court mandates, only $4.65 billion remains, enough to pay half of what is owed to current SNAP recipients for November...”

So there is only enough SNAP funds without a CR for part of November. Well then perhaps the red states and a few Citizen SNAP recipients need to file a federal class action or State vs State lawsuit against the Blue States and their officials.

The basis of the litigation would be that those Blue States are defrauding the Red States SNAP recipients and those Blue states need to pay the Red States SNAP recipients for lost benefits.

Could be an interesting cat fight to watch.
