WASHINGTON (7News) — For weeks, investigators have been searching high and low for the third and final suspect in a case that has rocked the DC region; the shooting death of 21-year-old congressional intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym on June 30.
According to court records, authorities tracked down 18-year-old Naqwan Lucas, of the District of Columbia, on Wednesday night in Germantown, Maryland. Thursday afternoon, Lucas appeared in DC Superior Court on more than a dozen charges, including first-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty before Judge Dana Dayson. Judge Dayson held Lucas until a status hearing with his co-defendants was scheduled for November 7.
In a stunning turn of events, Naqwan Lucas was also charged in a second indictment on Thursday for the July 4 murder of 17-year-old Zoey Kelley, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro. Authorities say Kelley was Lucas's girlfriend.
Joining in the announcement were Chief Pamela A. Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), U.S. Marshals Service Director Gadyaces S. Serralta, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Reid Davis of the Washington Field Office Criminal Division.
Lucas was arrested Wednesday night without incident by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, MPD, and U.S. Marshals.

Bring back the death penalty and make it quick
17-year-old Zoey Kelley, Lucas’s girlfriend, was black. Not that it makes any difference, IMHO, and the death penalty seems entirely appropriate.
