Trump says US will restart nuclear weapons tests, blames rivals’ actions after Xi meeting

President Donald Trump announced that he has ordered the United States to resume nuclear weapons testing "immediately," saying he directed the Department of War to match other nations’ programs. He called the move a necessary step to maintain global parity.

Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Wednesday night: "The United States has more Nuclear Weapons than any other country. This was accomplished, including a complete update and renovation of existing weapons, during my First Term in office."

"Because of the tremendous destructive power, I HATED to do it, but had no choice! Russia is second, and China is a distant third, but will be even within 5 years," Trump said. "Because of other countries’ testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis. That process will begin immediately."

I guess Trump didn't like Putin's claim that Russia now has a nuclear-powered torpedo that can cause 1,600 foot radioactive tsunamis.

What rival is testing nuclear weapons?

Is somebody telling him Russia or China is testing nukes?

I know its viewed as “aggressive” but I actually don’t think so.

It’s far safer to have the most advanced and up-to-date nuclear weapons. You know they work, any potential enemy knows they work. Staff then have experience and deep technical knowledge, and it reduces risk of mistakes or accidents.

With the neocon takeover of the Trump admin, we'll skip WWIII and move directly to WWIV! /s

Nuclear capable weapons systems are being called nuclear weapons.

But we already test weapon systems.

There is a whole issue about being sure nukes will work, if you don’t actually test some of them.

“1,600 foot radioactive tsunamis”

Where could we test, realistically?

Sorry about your archipelago!

“There is a whole issue about being sure nukes will work”

We know they work.

Everyone in the world knows they work.

What this will do is to cause the PRC to build more nukes.

That would put more US cities at risk.

Putin simply needs to be told that he should relocate the people in Donetsk that want to live under his rule but don’t.

To lose maybe 40,000 Russian soldiers a year to avoid relocating 100,000 Russian living in second-rate cities and working in second-rate factories is silly.

What Putin thinks is Donetsk Oblast are lines on a map.

Those lines aren’t worth 40,000 Russian deaths a year.

We had a nuclear torpedo a long time ago; MK45 ASTOR. As I recall it was just as likely to sink the sub that launched it as the sub it was fired at.

The difference here is that Putin is claiming that his new torpedo is “nuclear powered,” whatever that means.

We know they work.

Do they?

Aging nuclear arsenal poses dire threat to U.S.

I’m really glad he’s doing this. Been advocating for limited testing for 10+ years now.
