The Ryazan refinery, owned by Russian state oil company Rosneft, is one of the largest in central Russia. It processes more than 17 million tons of crude oil annually and plays a crucial role in fueling Russia’s armed forces and logistics operations.
Damage to parts of the plant’s production capacity reduces the Russian army’s ability to sustain combat operations.
That same night, Ukrainian strike drones also hit a Russian ammunition depot near the town of Valuyki in Belgorod Oblast. According to the General Staff, the target was destroyed, with secondary detonations and explosions recorded at the site.

Earlier, Russian Telegram channels reported a series of explosions in the city of Ryazan. Local residents said the area had come under drone attack, with at least 10 blasts heard over the city. Explosions were also reported in the nearby city of Skopin in Ryazan Oblast.
The Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported that the blasts occurred near the local oil refinery and the Dyagilevo air base.
On Sept. 5, drones also targeted Ryazan Oblast, with explosions reported at the same refinery.
Ukraine’s General Staff said that during the night of Aug. 2, a number of key military targets on Russian territory were successfully hit.

Ryazan refinery processed 13.1 million metric tons (262,000 barrels per day) in 2024, nearly 5% of Russia’s total refining throughput.
“Ukraine keeps hitting the Ryazan facility, and the Russians can’t seem to protect it.”
Ukraine has much better drones (non-jammable) and missiles now so it will keep hitting these Russian oil refineries on a rotating basis. Repairs are done, they get hit again. Sanctions mean Russia is running low on western made parts to repair them.
Oil export terminals are targets. So are massive compressors on the gas pipelines that make the natural gas flow.
Nah…it was just accidental disposal of smoking materials by some worker. Happens all the time. LOL
Where are all the Russian bots?
They are so certain the Russian economy is fine and it will win the war.
Guess the would say it was debris from drones being shot down.
Zelensky Admits Pokrovsk Situation Critical; Russia To Destroy Trapped Troops Ukraine Blackout Looms
Even Russian warbloggers are denouncing reports of Pokrovsk "encirclement"
Russian warbloggers are angrily denouncing General Valery Gerasimov for blatantly lying to President Vladimir Putin about Russia's military progress in Ukraine during a televised briefing. They note that the incident highlights the persistent problem of false reporting.
Yesterday's Putin-Gerasimov briefing demonstrated that this was not just for show, but was being reported directly to 'the Supreme' himself. Gerasimov claimed that Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad were encircled, with 31 Ukrainian battalions surrounded by Russian forces.
He also claimed that Russia had completed the encirclement of Kupiansk, with another 18 Ukrainian battalions trapped there, and boasted that more than 70% of Vovchansk was under Russian control.
Russian warbloggers have joined Ukrainian and independent commentators in rejecting these claims. 'Romanov Light' notes tersely: "Once again, the information reported does not correspond to reality on the ground."
'Tactical Medical Courses' is sarcastic: "I wonder, if I say that Gerasimov is lying about the encirclement of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, will that be considered discrediting the Russian Armed Forces? Or are Gerasimov's words discrediting the Russian Armed Forces?"
'Zimovsky' is even more sarcastic: "10,500 Banderites in a cauldron —that's thousands of prisoners!
When will they be marched through Moscow?"
'Military Informant' highlights multiple independent maps of the situation at Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, and wonders if "Enemies have once again penetrated Comrade Gerasimov's encirclement."
"Of course, at this point, there are simply no encirclements of 6-7 brigades (if we consider only the combat battalions) . The existing corridor between the Russian Armed Forces groups in the west and north of Pokrovsk is several kilometers long.
"Furthermore, it is highly unlikely that a multi-thousand-strong Ukrainian Armed Forces group is still entrenched within the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration—the current reality is that fighting is conducted by small infantry groups, both defensively and offensively.
"This implies that the relatively small group is easily supplied through the current corridor by ground and air drones, as it does not require large amounts of supplies.
"Even if a local encirclement does occur somewhere, experience shows that the enemy will be able to fight for a long time in a cut-off state, fully equipped with drones.
Some commentators suggest that Gerasimov is deliberately blurring the difference between encirclement and fire control to bamboozle Putin, who has never served in the military and may not understand the difference.
