MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. Western elites spent years teaching Russia about the importance of freedom of speech and competition, and now they are trying to ban and block all of that, President Vladimir Putin said in a speech marking the 20th anniversary of RT.
"For years, they [Western elites] taught us how to live, how the media should work, how to understand democracy and what democracy is. What true freedom of speech is. They convinced us of the importance of competition, pluralism of opinion, and so on," Putin said. "But what happened to these mentors when RT appeared and hundreds of millions of people began watching a channel offering a new interpretation of events? The reaction of these very elites, whom I have already mentioned, was primitive and straightforward: ‘ban, cancel, block’," the Russian leader noted.
He’s right.
He’s definitely not wrong on this one point.

Some here cannot deal with it and keep saying that Ukraine is fighting for “Freedom and Independence”. NOPE. They are fighting to determine whether they will be a slave state to Brussels (Europe) or a slave state to Russia. The West will never permit a “third way”, just ask Hungary or Serbia what happens when you try that.
He’s a better defender of western civ than any Rat out there.
Its impossible to argue.
Russia jails 400 people out of its 150 million for things they post on the internet every year.
Meanwhile the UK jails 12,000 people out of its 65 million for things they post on the internet every year.
It’s the EU that, as Vitkor Orban has said, is a bad parody of the old Soviet Union.

Whatever else one may say about Putin, he speaks sense.
Here we have Bush calling Islam the religion of peace. Obama and Biden were even worse, importing illegals, etc.
In Europe they are doing their best to silence their own people and render political resistance illegal.
Why shouldn’t I prefer Putin to Zelensky, Starmer, and Macron?
