President Donald Trump said that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin began a “lengthy” phone call Thursday morning.

The call comes a day before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with Trump at the White House, as Kyiv seeks more U.S. support in its war against Russia.

“I am speaking to President Putin now,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post at 11:21 a.m. ET.

“The conversation is ongoing, a lengthy one, and I will report the contents, as will President Putin, at its conclusion. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

If Trump pulls a preliminary peace deal out of his ass after this, the dems are going to be in a massive panic. Who knows what kind of backroom deals and so on Biden and the neocons did.

I know foreign adventures are fun and profitable. If we can get it past Suzie Wiles, we should get something American on the agenda one day next week maybe.

I’m just seeing a lot of Israel, Gaza, Venezuela, Argentina, Ukraine and Russia. But the economy is trash, gold is pushing 4300 an ounce, health insurance is skyrocketing, home ownership is more elusive than ever, and street violence and blue state resistance to ICE is mounting.

Time to grow up and focus on America. And it’s childish to be tweeting about a conversation WHILE the call is ongoing.

Trump should tell Bad Vlad that he better shape up, or his oil refineries and oil export terminals will be getting the Tomahawk chop. When Russian crude is not moving in pipelines, the water in it (about 10%) freezes and bursts them

Actually the Tomahawk has too few land based launchers units. So Trump will sending NATO/Ukraine another effective missile

Yeah, threatening to blow up the infrastructure of a country that possesses thousands of nuclear weapons is brilliant. Pure Zeeper insanity.

Agree. We also need to focus a lot more attention on our electrical grid and the rest of our decaying infrastructure. So much depends on this.

Plenty of problems right here at home to deal with before we run around trying to solve the never ending cascade of problems abroad. We also don’t have the money for it anymore.

This thread is brought to you by the Democratic Underground.

More of us bashing each other because we’re not 100% lock step in agreement with each other.

I happen to believe this call might be ending up in a final war posture. I have never seen the president go back and forth so much with a warring entity, certainly not since the civil war.

So what happened to Trump's original deadlines with Russia?

Trump sets new deadline of 10 or 12 days for Russia to act on Ukraine

Donald Trump’s 50-Day Deadline to Russia Expires

Pentagon & Congress Trump’s 2-week deadline for Russia to start peace talks comes and goes

So how many more deadlines are going to come and go?

Or can we just expect more flattery, small talk, and meetings about future meetings?

Zelensky is in town tomorrow.

Odds look about 80% he’ll spend time with Congress before Trump. Trump will hear about this and be pleased or displeased? Huge chunks of Congress will be delighted to tell him they can counter any inclinations Trump might have.

Wasn’t there floated a big decision to be announced today . . . or yesterday?
