US President Donald Trump urged Israel to seize the chance for peace and called on Palestinians to turn “forever from the path of terror” in a speech to the Israeli parliament Monday, hours after Hamas released all 20 living hostages.
Trump received a hero’s welcome by the Knesset — as well as being briefly heckled by a left-wing member, who was promptly escorted out — after brokering a ceasefire that raised hopes for lasting peace in the region.
“Generations from now, this will be remembered as the moment that everything began to change,” Trump told lawmakers, describing the truce as “the end of the age of terror and death.”
It came amid scenes of jubilation in Tel Aviv, where huge numbers gathered for public screenings of the hostages being released. Shortly after, bus-loads of Palestinian prisoners freed by Israel arrived in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, AFP reported.

Out of about 250 hostages taken only about 20 were returned alive. Good to have them back, but that’s a worse survival rate than Andersonville or POW’s of Japan in WWII.
Unfortunately it’s not over. Killing Jews is fundamental to Islam. They’ll be back.

In all seriousness, I wouldn’t be surprised if a new legal construct happens soon in Israel regarding being taken hostage. The Israelis, as individuals, might sign something similar to a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) for their loved ones to ask that the Israeli govt refuse to bend over backwards to try to rescue them if taken hostage. Just count them immediately as a casualty so that Israel can be free to squash the Gazans/”Palestinians”/ or whatever they call themselves.
I believe a number of hostages have already been released or have escaped. These are the last hostages remaining.

Is that correct? I read that 168 survived out of 251, so that would be 2/3. (One of the 168 recently committed suicide.)
Still horrible, and I have grave doubts about Israel releasing so many terrorist murderers as part of the deal.
I trust Trump to have made the right decision on this, but I would have gone for unconditional surrender.

Trump means well of course, but his naive thinking borders on ludicrous. He’s actually empowered the islamic crazies all over the planet to take hostages, because you get something in return. For Israel, they get hostages back for now, but more taken in the future. And Emperor Trump and his board of peace, will throw lots of bones to the arabs now and pressure Israel to accept a terror state on its’ doorstep. Jerusalem will be the burdensome stone that God says will crush those who try to lift it. Trump included

How absurd. The “age of terror” began when Mohammed (piss be upon him) was around 28 years old, and has continued for over 1,400 years. Come on, Mr. President. You must know better. I pray.
As of October 13, 2025, Hamas has released all 20 remaining living hostages who were taken during the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. A ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States secured the final release after more than two years of captivity.
Details regarding the hostages taken on October 7, 2023:
Total taken: In total, 251 people were initially abducted and taken into Gaza.
All living hostages released: The 20 individuals released on October 13, 2025, were the last living hostages held by Hamas who were abducted during the attack.
Deceased hostages: The bodies of 28 hostages who died in captivity or were killed on October 7 are still being held by Hamas. Four of these bodies were set to be returned to Israel on October 13, 2025.
Previous releases and rescues: More than 100 hostages were released during a previous ceasefire in November 2023. A small number of other hostages were also rescued by Israeli forces in various operations.
Other captives: The status of the remains of two Israeli soldiers killed in 2014 and two Israeli civilians captured in 2014 and 2015 remains separate from the October 7 hostage count.
Its fair to say that the killing will continue and that the speeches are a little over the top. They always are in a situation like this. But don’t let that overshadow that this agreement is a massive step in the right direction and could set the stage for future peace agreements between Israel and other Arab countries. The stage has been set with Iran being neutered for the time being. I am a natural cynic so my take away from this speech could be about the “realities” of the Middle East and its constant warfare. But I’m going to be cautiously optimistic that this will set the stage for more peace with other regional countries.
I appreciate what President Trump has done, but if he thinks peace is going to last, he is being naive. It’s actually one of his biggest flaws -— he believes what anyone tells him. He assumes everyone is as honest as he is.
