Crime, violence concerns spike, but data shows country is becoming safer

Concerns over crime and violence spiked in Gallup polling this month, with the public opinion organization noting a particular increase in mentions following Charlie Kirk's assassination on Sept. 10.

The Gallup poll was conducted Sept. 2-16 and published Monday.

Mentions of crime or violence more than doubled over the past month, rising from 3% in August to 8% in September, according to Gallup.

That’s the highest level since August 2020, and before that, 2002, Gallup said.

The organization also noted that survey respondents might’ve been influenced by the Minneapolis Catholic school shooting or the stabbing death of a Ukrainian woman on a North Carolina train.

But Gallup said the survey results suggest that Kirk’s assassination is reverberating with Americans, particularly Republicans.

Mentions of crime or violence increased most sharply among Republicans, rising from 6% to 14%.

Meanwhile, Gallup reported a spike in concerns about national unity.

I reside above New Orleans and that area is the same as its been since after Katrina ... not a place to be with shootings and murders every week. If I didn’t have access to the local print most wouldn’t hear of it and I’m sure its the same way nationwide. If its not reported it didn’t happen kind of thing. Just like the way states have altered crime statistics to reflect a safer area.

Seems like that is what happened during the Obama Administration. So they've been manipulating data for some time.

But Gallup is able to measure the sentiment of the American People. We've known this for a long time now, we've avoided going in our cities.

All ‘Bout Crap.

Sinclair. “No antifa”/kimmell. Go figure.

“Data” originating from sources reporting both inaccurately and who are not logging said data (responding to crimes, prosecuting crimes, reporting accurate data to feds, i.e., “FBI’s annual crime report”).

Gaslighting? I think not. This is fodder for the useful idiots ignorant of their victimization under the true pandemic, nothing more.

Only the truly stupid would react any other way to this bs.

When cops and deputies are told to drop the details on their reports and downgrade the crimes, then “crime goes down” is the data result.

Real people in real neighborhoods see the crime victims coming home from the hospital and hear their stories, or visit the families whose loved ones were murdered and the KNOW the crime stats are wrong.

How much crime reduction is because Americans adapted to a changing America by locking doors, installing burglar bars and security measures, building fences with locked gates, having security guards, and simply not going out at night and not moving around as freely during the day?

We don’t live the same way we did in 1970, crime and violence cut off our wings for us and the kids, we hide inside now.
