UK, France, Germany Working to Expropriate Russian Assets — [UK] PM's Office
TASS ^ | 10/10/25

This is necessary to end the war and ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine

LONDON, October 10. /TASS/. The United Kingdom, France, and Germany are working together on the potential expropriation of Russian sovereign assets, the UK prime minister's office said in a statement following a phone call between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Vladimir Zelensky.

"Reflecting on his discussions with the leaders of France and Germany this morning, the Prime Minister said all three countries were united in wanting to drive progress towards using the full value of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to end the war and ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," the statement reads.

It notes that French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Starmer have agreed to increase sanctions pressure on Russia. "Further sanctions in the coming days and weeks would also add to the pressure on Russia," the statement says.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that the global financial and economic order would be destroyed and economic separatism would only intensify if the West stole Russia's frozen reserves. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Moscow would definitely respond to the theft of its assets in Europe. He stressed that the Kremlin intends to prosecute those involved in this scheme.

This will cause the Russians to have to pull microchips out of refrigerators and other kitchen appliances to keep their industry going. /s

“Expropriate” .... Oh, you mean Seize!
A Government’s method of repossessing?

Seizing or expropriating Russian assets, is a lot less expensive and less dangerous to Russia, than the devastation which Russia has caused in Ukraine.

Devastating all kinds of properties and infrastructure and lives, is a lot more egregious than the simple seizing of Russian assets in other countries.

The most hypocritical human on the planet today, is Putin the Invader.

“if the West stole Russia’s frozen reserves.”

But, you have been posting for years that these reserves had already been stolen.

Generally, you are in agreement with TASS. I guess Socrates got this wrong.

They are DESPERATE for new sources of OTHER-PEOPLE’S-MONEY as they deplete their usual sources … or their usual sources have learned how to avoid or evade the globalist fascists’ grubby fingers. Just sayin’.

Well, for years the EU globalists overlords have been talking about “robbing that ‘bank’” but have never actually pulled the trigger. Now they appear to actually be close to entering the “bank” and begin hauling away the loot. That’s a whole different animal. Just sayin’.

When you iniate a war with no apparent direct threat to yourself, you will be judged harshly.

If you want to be a conqueror, don’t be
surprised if you are opposed and lose
your assets.

Russia is a bully. Pure and simple.
A nuke launched from a anonymous ship
in the ocean, could take out Moscow.
Goodbye Russian Central Government.
How to respond?
Attack everybody?
I don’t think that will work.
You could nuke Washington D.C.
You’d be doing most Americans
a favor.
Our central government is a bigger threat
to us than any outside enemy.
I suspect Ukraine is the same.
I worked with many Ukrainians.
Russians will rue the day they attacked.

This is the latest publicity weaponry.

If follows coalition of the willing putting troops on the ground just as soon as there is a ceasefire.

Then there was purchase worldwide of Patriot systems to be given to Ukraine.

Then there is this talk of frozen assets, which Euroclear has been very straightforward about. Concerning its assets in Asia (Euroclear bank has branches in HK and Singapore) that would be subject to seizure in response to lawsuits Russia would file, allegedly already in Honk Kong and Singapore. The branches conduit to the main offices in Brussels.

I was in Ukraine after 2014 but before the current war.

They'll rip the Russians veins from their necks with their teeth if they have to. Ukrainian guerillas fought for 9 years against Stalin after 1945 with no hope of victory.

They know there is never any peace with Russia: even if they surrendered, Putin would murder the entire political class, the army officers and the Russian soldiery would murder, rape and loot their way across Ukraine. Might as well keep fighting.

Yup, it's NATO/Ukraine that refused a ceasefire.

Sure, it's Ukraine/NATO that refuse to have high level talks.

Same thing that happened to Venezuela a few years back. IIRC, Maduro asked the money go to global health to fight Covid, but was ignored.

---- "I was in Ukraine after 2014 but before the current war. They'll rip the Russians veins from their necks with their teeth if they have to. Ukrainian guerillas fought for 9 years against Stalin after 1945 with no hope of victory."

I can't claim your travel to Ukraine among my travels. I do recognize your sentiment, a questionable quote right out of the 1200s during the massacre of the French Cathars by the French Catholics of that time.

As to the " Ukrainian guerillas fought for 9 years against Stalin after 1945 with no hope of victory," would they play the role of the Cathars?

"The Bandera cult is an 'expression of selective memory and politics of history," said Andreas Umland, an expert at the Stockholm Center for Eastern European Studies. It is about remembering that Bandera was a radical fighter for independence who served time in a Polish prison and a German concentration camp and was murdered by the KGB, he told DW.

" 'What people do not remember is that both at the beginning and at the end of World War II, the movement that Bandera led, the OUN, cooperated with the Third Reich for various reasons,' Umland said.

Experts have two explanations, said Umland. One group believes the cooperation was forced, while others argue there was an ideological closeness. Both are true, said Grzegorz Rossolinski-Liebe, a Bandera biographer and historian at the Free University of Berlin.

" 'Of course Bandera wanted a Ukrainian state, but he wanted a fascist state, an authoritarian state, one where he would have been the leader,' said Rossolinski-Liebe."

Stepan Bandera: Hero or Nazi collaborator? Deutsche Welle, 22 May 2022

The mess is complex, and certainly if there is "no hope of victory" is this the only Realpolitick solution? If so, then this is a modern Cathar moment writ large, centuries later.

I too noted the individual, questioning other Freepers about defrauding an American business. My comment in that thread was that the sentiment could be justified by Clinton's heinous “I did it because I could.” Whether defrauding an American RV dealer, or causing worldwide harm to EuroClear, one notes both were couched in terms of “ethics.”
