New Calls for Investigation of “Hyper-Partisan” SPLC’s Status as Tax-Exempt “Charitable” Organization

The far-left extremists at the Southern Poverty Law Center already have seen the FBI announce it is cutting all ties with them. And a petition is demanding that the Department of Justice take the same step.

Now a complaint has been filed with federal authorities calling for a full review of the SPLC’s status as a “charitable” organization that gives it huge tax breaks.

According to the Federalist, the Center to Advance Security in America has submitted a legal complaint asking for the full review because of the SPLC’s “hyper-partisan political activity.”

In fact, the complaint calls for the organization’s tax-exempt status to be revoked.

“American taxpayers should not be expected to subsidize an organization that engages in daily attacks on Republicans, compares those who hold mainstream conservative beliefs to the KKK, and who consistently labels conservatives as engaging in ‘hate’ without any reference to any other political parties or ideologies,” CASA chief James Fitzpatrick told the publication.

Agree wholly.

A fascination for me is to look into the required Form 990s for various "non-profits," to find fat salaries, large expenses and "other" as a repository for "something," with some of the richest holding large sums in investments.

If non-profit as a category were to specifically bar political activities, many left and some right think tanks would come to a screeching halt. Some are halfway houses for ex-politicians and family and friends. Which is why the corruption of the system is tolerated. Sadly.
