A US Air Force jet designed to collect intelligence on enemy radar systems was spotted making circles over Russia, following rising tensions with Moscow.
Flight tracking data showed the RC-135U 'Combat Sent' taking off from England early Tuesday, flying over the Baltic states and looping around Kaliningrad, the Russian exclave between Poland and Lithuania, before returning to the UK.
The American jet departed from Mildenhall, a Royal Air Force station in Suffolk, at 2:32am ET and touched down at 9:36am.
The mission came a day after German Chancellor Friedrich Merz accused Russia of waging a 'hybrid war' against Germany.
Merz blamed President Vladimir Putin for the incursion of reconnaissance drones that disrupted Munich Airport and left more than 10,000 passengers stranded.

“TOP SECRET”
On a flight tracker....
Can we vote to have a ‘journalist’ slapped?
... looping around Kaliningrad ...

Is a far cry from what the headline announces. Click bait post.
So... it really did not “loop over russia”.. it flew in intl’ air space close to Russia..
Essentially the same thing the Rooskies do every day around the UK and Alaska..
So secret they’re posting about it on a news website.
🤦♂️🤦♂️
CC
Kaliningrad, Vinny, Twould be a shame if someone was to set fire to it...
More Polish/Baltic than Rus, IMO
What a headline
RC-135U is not what comes to mind when I’m thinking of a “spy jet”.
If they want their garters in a bunch over WWIII, they could point to the B52 runs from Lakenheath over the Baltic right up to St. Petersburg, or the sigint flights over the Black Sea followed shortly by Ukrainian drone hits on Crimea.
Looks like the Chinese are in on it, too, with satellite flights over Western Ukraine during Russian missile attacks.
I suggest we just ask for Unanimous Consent
Made ya look.
“So secret they’re posting about it on a news website.”
And left its transponder on so civilian flight trackers (and Russians) could easily find it.
It isn’t as if we don’t do this all the time, everywhere.
Or at least, used to, especially during the Cold War. (Don’t know how things went during the Obama and Biden administrations.)
Granted, this takes place in the middle of a conflict we have no business being involved in, and if we are surveilling the sites and types of installations for transmission to the Ukrainians for specific targeting, that is different.
I don’t believe Trump is serious about providing Tomahawk missiles, I view that as posturing to show displeasure, but if they did, and this information being collected is going to be used for targeting, that is a dangerous game to be involved in and I don’t approve.

A closer look at what the satellites spotted.
Long before that. I was stationed at RAFM from '88 - '92, and the RC-135 fleet was operating out of there before I got there.
Not really. What caught my eye was the word Jet. I like to read about planes
I have no mounting fears of WW3 at this time.
