The superintendent of Iowa's largest public school district was detained by ICE last week, raising questions about his background. Ian Roberts, who was hired in 2023, has a history of criminal charges and was not in the U.S. legally, authorities said. The Des Moines school district said it is suing the firm it charged with vetting Roberts.

Heads should roll on this snafu. Apparently, someone dropped the ball in doing a background investigation. No followup. Bad, bad, bad.

Well aware of this story when it broke, but a few days ago I was quickly scrolling through my posts in a quest to find a particular one, and came upon one which caught me up short. It was from a few months ago,and it was the great Caitlin Clark behind a long folding table handing out free backpacks to grade-schoolers -—something/someone looked familiar and the perpetually smiling guy who kept moving one backpack after another over to Caitlin was none other than the Superintendent, gettin’ in on all the warm and gooey action.
How do they even know he’s a real doctor (PhD) he’s ‘undocumented’!!!!!!!

What Doctor? Until an honest PhD credential is verified then it’s a sham to call him Doctor. And the spreading of this “Doctor” lie by the school board and its search committee staff/contractors after his “ABD” revision was submitted on his Resume, is shameful dishonesty from then to the present. If they and their political allies would lie about this then what else are they lying about and do we have any evidence that they are ever truthful on anything?
Before I start calling him “Robert’s, ABD” do we actually have any evidence that he was truly all done with his PhD, besides his Dissertation. There are plenty of people who attended college, me included, who did not do a Dissertation and did not teach ABD status. In my case, I never started a PhD program and have always been consistent in omitting any such claims about any PhD program. Same goes for me and MIT. Yes it’s true that I have been on the MIT campus a few times. But I was never enrolled. Same goes for Robert’s. The difference is that he put MIT on his Resume and I never did.
It’s shocking how incompetent they were with their background check and their follow up on things after the “ABD” claims. What kind of political supporters ever picked such School Board candidates and still tolerate them staying in power? They are a disgrace to Iowa and their political factions, especiallly any of them tolerating anything less than full accountability.
Imagine the headline if the perp had been a MAGA.

However, Morgan State said Roberts “did not receive any degree or certificate” from the institution. St. John’s University confirmed he received a master’s degree but not a doctorate.
Roberts’ attorney said his client obtained a doctorate from Trident University, an online institution.”

Maybe a much closer look at those “credentials” regarding the level of intellectual attainment, and a little more thorough examination of other claims as well.
