Iowa superintendent immigration case: Universities deny credentials
MSN ^

Posted on 10/01/2025 4:37:25 PM PDT by TigerClaws

The case has raised numerous questions about Roberts’ background.

A NewsNation investigation found discrepancies in his birthdate across various records — athletic competition records list Dec. 18, 1973, while court documents and his 2017 marriage certificate show Dec. 18, 1970.

Universities deny credentials listed on Ian Roberts’ official biography

Roberts’ LinkedIn profile and official biography list degrees from multiple institutions, including Morgan State University. However, Morgan State said Roberts “did not receive any degree or certificate” from the institution. St. John’s University confirmed he received a master’s degree but not a doctorate.

Roberts’ attorney said his client obtained a doctorate from Trident University, an online institution. George Washington University told NewsNation it has no record of awarding Roberts its 2013 “Washington DC Principal of the Year” recognition, despite such a claim appearing in his official biography.

DHS requests more troops in Chicago as tensions grow School board minutes from Roberts’ previous position at Mill Creek Township in Pennsylvania show officials questioned his credentials during the 2020 hiring process, noting he “lacked the educational certificate from his educational facilities that he obtained his doctorate.”

The resignation comes as the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division investigates alleged race-based discrimination in hiring practices at Des Moines Public Schools, which federal officials say violates federal law.

Parrish said his firm filed a motion to stay proceedings in Roberts’ deportation case and plans to file a motion to reopen his immigration case. He presented a letter dated March 27, 2025, from Roberts’ previous immigration attorney stating his case had reached “a successful resolution.”

Roberts, a native of Guyana and former Olympic athlete, had been registered to vote in Maryland with a 1970 birth date. That registration remained active despite his years away from the state.

Should be deported and sued for a return of ill-gotten funds. Can both somehow happen together? If hot, just get his a&( out of here.

I worked hard for my degrees and it bothers me when people fake them and no one can be bothered to check.

Not any more, gone now though the school board gave him the easy way out to resign, the AWFULs running it were too coward to fire him.

Saw info that school district is now under federal investigation due to the shady shenanigans that's been going on there. Play stupid games, win the stupid prizes.

I didn’t work particularly hard for my BS and my doctorate (JD,), and I’m still annoyed. Waiting for my fellow doctor, Dr Jill Biden, to chime in on the affront to our professional credentials

The school board subbed out the vetting to a DEI group.

This is what you get.

Likely kickbacks involved.

Know someone who found out the once-a-week DEI “training” he was forced to attend consisting of an hour-long struggle session about his whiteness cost the school system $90,000 per year. One guy. An hour a week.

Entire DEI system is a Dem money laundering operation.

The School Board needs to go (at least any members who voted to hire this fraud). Once the superintendent’s immigration fraud surfaced, whodathunk other fraud would bubble up. Great job the Board did vetting his credentials and resume; someone better check the Board members’ resumes.

The Des Moines Public School Board voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Ian Roberts as the Des Moines Public Schools’ new superintendent, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Roberts was chosen through a comprehensive national search based on the leadership profile prepared by the Board after receiving input from staff, parents, students and community members. Dr. Roberts will succeed Interim Superintendent Matt Smith to lead the state’s largest school district comprised of 31,000 students across 64 school buildings.
“When considering candidates, the Board was looking for educational experience, academic excellence and a passion for innovation and inspiration, and we found those qualities and more in Dr. Roberts,” said Des Moines Public Schools Board Chair Teree Caldwell-Johnson. “Dr. Roberts’ focus on creating equitable experiences for students to thrive, paired with his commitment to continuous improvement, creates an exciting opportunity for our students, staff and community.”

I noticed that the two payoffs for sexual misconduct seem to have been forgotten

One would think that each time there was a payoff for his sexual misconduct that somebody would investigate his past to see if this was a pattern. Can’t do that with a DEI hire

If anyone doesn’t agree with the words I just posted then don’t get mad at me. I am just posting verbatim the school board’s announcement of 2 years ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take it down as it’s got to be embarrassing.

It’s clear that the whole DEI farce as practiced by leftists, complete with the see-no-evil hear-no-evil, and speak-no-evil willfully blind monkeys in charge, is to blame for this fiasco.

NO different than any other democrat politician.

Lying about their heritage, credentials, education, experience, ANYTHING, just to get ahead.

They have no conscience and apparently no soul.

My bad … she may be the chairperson, not president, of the school board. But either way she is the top leader on that school board who hired this Ian Robert’s as superintendent. She is also a candidate for the US Senate to fill the seat being vacated by Joni Ernst in 15mo from now.

On Roberts and the board … they admit today that when they interviewed him that they were made aware that he did not have a PhD, but they still hired him and still called him Dr. Roberts even after he was detained by ICE and they started publicly expressing shock.

Resume Clarification from DMPS Regarding Ian Roberts

For clarification purposes, the Des Moines School Board wants to provide additional context on the current speculation surrounding Dr. Roberts’ resume.

Dr. Roberts provided an initial resume to JG Consulting that indicated he earned a doctorate from Morgan State University.
During the background check, which was the responsibility of the search firm, the degree error was flagged, and the resume was revised to note ABD, or “all but dissertation,” which is required to earn such a degree.
The revised resume is what Board members had when they interviewed the finalists.
The Board was aware Dr. Roberts did not graduate from Morgan State University at the time of his hiring.
After Dr. Roberts was hired in May 2023, there was a FOIA request for the documents related to his hiring. At that time, DMPS reached out to JG Consulting to ask them to provide a copy of the documents. The documents provided by JG Consulting included the original resume and not the revised resume.

“I want to be clear. In a world of misinformation and disinformation, speculation becomes narrative and blame is rampant. The Des Moines School Board is also a victim of deception by Dr. Roberts, one on a growing list that includes our students and teachers, our parents and community, our elected officials and Iowa’s Board of Educational Examiners, and others,” said school board President Jackie Norris. “We are committed to the community we serve and will find ways to improve our entire process as we move forward.”

How many people live in Iowa? A couple hundred? I can’t believe they had to find an African illegal alien whose ancestors never picked cotton so they would have an idiot to run their schools.

I wonder what JD Consulting was paid to find and vet Dr. Roberts. The consulting search firm should have minimally done a background and credentials check to verify the applicant’s resume. The school system should have insisted on a thorough background check.
