Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) University Won’t Let Turning Point Host On-Campus Event
The Daily Signal ^ | 1 October 2025 | Mary Mobley

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Chip Roy said Wednesday they plan to investigate a university’s decision to block a Turning Point USA event.

Their comments came in response to reports that Texas Christian University denied the student chapter’s request to host an on-campus event featuring detransitioner Chloe Cole.

“This doesn’t look like free speech to me,” Paxton wrote on X Wednesday morning. “I’m going to look into this.”

“My friend … [Chloe Cole] testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee,” Roy, R-Texas, wrote. “Expect an inquiry as to why she’s not welcomed by you … ”

Cole, who detransitioned at 16 and now speaks out against “gender-affirming care” for minors, said on X Tuesday that the university had been making its Turning Point chapter jump through “arbitrary hoops” for a “while” before ultimately denying its request for an available room.

She described the university as “cancelling” her, writing on X Tuesday, “Christian colleges (and otherwise) need to step up to keep democracy and free speech alive in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.”

The event, scheduled for Oct. 7, will now be held at Birchman Baptist Church. “The show goes on, but not on campus,” Cole wrote.

The university in question is Disciples of Christ affiliated, a mainline liberal denomination. You see the power of these institutions to pressure everyone to conform to the Left.

I keep forgetting that TCU is Disciples of Christ, an uber-leftist denomination. A couple of years ago, their affiliated seminary had a pedophile professor arrested.

A good Christian friend of mine calls it “Texas Carnal University.” He doesn’t care what people think.

I’d say it’s time to dissolve any so called Christian organization that leans leftwards!

Lefties made them an offer they couldn’t refuse. What else could it have been?

As someone who grew up in the Christian Church (independent, not affiliated with the Disciples of Christ) the last thing that could be said of this “church” is that they are Christian. Nope. They are not. They are a liberal branch off the churches of the Restoration Movement (Christian, Church of Christ, and the Disciples). Whatever Scripture says, basically they teach the opposite. They are apostate. This thing at TCU does not surprise me in the least. Someday......

This denomination is quite liberal.

The non-denominational Christian church is not.

They probably have a lot of young men they’ve persuaded to be girls instead. That’s usually who are the most offended by free speech.

Chloe Cole appeared at a rally for Charlie Kirk in Beverly Hills, Calif. last month. The rally is shown in this video, but not her appearance--the public address system they were using was inadequate for such a large crowd--but she tells a riveting story.

“This doesn’t look like free speech to me,”

The First Amendment doesn't govern or restrict the activities of private associations. Indeed, it explicitly protects against government "prohibiting the free exercise [of religion]". This is none of the government's business.

Doesn’t the saying go, “It’s hard to find a Christian at TCU”?

I asked AI a question, and they did return this campus ministry:

Disciples on Campus (DOC): Affiliated with the Disciples of Christ, this group focuses on community, inclusion, justice, and joy.

There do appear to be other campus denominational ministries, including United Methodists, Roman Catholic, moderate Presbyterians, and Baptists.

Yes, that is a liberal denomination.

You have to be careful when seeing a church labeled as just a “Christian Church” - many of them are Disciples of Christ, they could be a number of other denominations, or just independent / nondenominational.

That really isn’t unique to just that label, though. “Baptist” “Lutheran”, etc. greatly vary in what organization they could be affiliated with and there is variation from church to church even within a denomination.

The religious divide of today is Sodomy versus non-Sodomy.

I spell "Sodomy" with a capital-S because it is the name of a religion.

Many TCU alumni would like to use only the letters TCU and drop the Christian name. Google it and you’ll see what I mean.

Disciples, Ronald Reagan's Church back in the day, has over the past twenty years been the fastest declining American denomination. They've lost well over half the membership.

How do I know? Former member, deacon, elder. These days may as well attend a UCC or Methodist church and pick up your American Communist Party card from the head pastor as you leave.

Yeah, it's personal.

It is my understanding that some kind of rift has finally occurred atleast to some degree within DOC churches in that some of them no longer have the Challis on their Marques or literature.

We knew a leftwing Disciples of Christ missionary in Japan in the early to mid 60s. He helped lead a group of dozens of his like-minded students & others to stage a protest denouncing Vietnam War involvement, outside the US Embassy in Tokyo in around May '68.

He also taught our interdenominational church's HS youth group that my older bro & sis attended. Besides trying to get them to be anti war, he also indoctrinated them with "situational ethics," which I was told meant that "doing what you feel" was a higher good than doing what the Bible teaches.

One of his sons is a radical leftwing "journalist" who recently received a lot of backlash for mocking Erika Kirk when she mentioned Charlie was now up there "walking with Jesus". He accused her of claiming Charlie was "Jesus 2.0 ... creating a new religion..." and so on.
