National Parks will largely remain open as government shuts down

National Parks will largely remain open even as the federal government shuts down, according to a plan made public on Tuesday evening.

“Park roads, lookouts, trails, and open-air memorials will generally remain accessible to visitors,” says a shutdown contingency plan for the National Park Service (NPS).

The plan states that expected staffing levels will be “held to the amount needed for the protection of life, property, and public health and safety, and will be based on the assumption that the NPS is conducting no park operations and providing no visitor services.”

As opposed to obama, who deliberately ordered parks and other areas to shut down and arrest people who tried to visit or use outdoor areas, the Trump admin is trying to keep them accessible for use as much as possible.

“0bama wanted his shut down to n be vindictive, “Make it hurt.””

Did those 100,000 government liberals who threatened to resign if there was a shutdown leave yet?

Total number of agency employees expected to be on board
before implementation of the plan:

14,500-15,500 depending on season. The lower numbers are a reflection of February through
mid-May seasonal shifts.
• Necessary to protect life and property: 2,500 - 3,100 depending on season.

Hopefully, the Yellowstone Bison will take this opportunity for a little time off and to get away from the goofy, ignorant tourists wanting selfies of themselves being chased and gored by elk and bison.

He learned from his master. Remember Clinton's folks shutting down sleigh rides at Yellowstone? Oh, no's! (Typed in my best Rush voice from the Contract with America days.) Of course, now the Dims brag on those years and give Clinton credit for balancing the budget.

Obama actions in a shutdown: Shut down NPS parks, but keep the NPS graphic design artists, who are making LGBTQ posters, on the payroll.

Trump actions in a shutdown: Keep the NPS parks open, but fire the NPS graphic design artists, who are making LGBTQ posters.

I like the new Sheriff.

I worked in the DoD during obama (and several other Presidents).

The DoD is a fully funded “essential” agency that remains functional at all times.....or so we thought.

That pos obama had the other pos ash-hole Carter suspend DoD civilians for 5 days without pay, and on that rare occasion we were never reimbursed for our time off.

So when you hear someone say fed gov employees always get their money after being furloughed, it’s not 100% accurate.

obama was a spiteful MFer.

Didn’t Obama shut down a military cemetery? I have never seen a single government employee while visiting a cemetery. That is proof that our government under Obama hated Americans.

DOD is not fully funded nor fully operational during shutdowns. Unless employees are exempt, they are sent home. Same thing for DLA. So all the engineering, testing, logistics, all repairs above unit level and supply functions the military relies on, stop during shutdowns. Short term it is not a huge deal but if this drags on, it will be felt.

I remember Obama closed the highway pull offs outside Mt Rushmore so people could not pull over to see the statues. Very petty of him.
A political cartoon of the time showed two helicopters with ah huge blanket between them covering the mountain.
