United States Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg insisted on Tuesday that Russia is not achieving success on the battlefield in Ukraine, claiming that its military forces have been "decimated" and its President Vladimir Putin is "taking tanks out of museums to bring them to the frontlines."
Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, Kellogg stressed that, when it comes to negotiating peace in Ukraine, Putin has "got to make that call, not the West. The West is aligned very well, and I have great confidence in it as well." "He's got the problem, not the West," he noted.
Previously, Kellogg estimated that Russia "appears to be escalating with the largest attack of the war" amid its recent air attacks on Ukraine.

Same as WW2. They seem to enjoy it.
What about: “The Russians are stripping Ukrainian washing machines of chips to put them in missiles” line?
its an oldie, but a goodie.
I believe nothing out of this bug-eyed war ghoul’s mouth.
That Trump chose this MIC rattler as “envoy” (lol) shows a total lack of seriousness in solving the Ukraine problem.
What isTrump doing relying on this crazy warmonger for advice?
Kellog is an 80 year old washed out Cold War Neo-Con relic. He has been found to be consistently wrong in every “ assessment “ and has an agenda….just look up who his daughter works for…
He is probably the dolt that told Trump the Ukies can take back all the Russian provinces and Crimea too! Believe what you want to, but the Reality on the battlefield says much, much different.
Agreed.
“Meaghan Mobbs, daughter of Gen. Keith Kellogg, Trump’s Ukraine envoy, heads a charity that supports Ukraine.….”

…..and dig further, her “ salary” heading up a Ukrainian “ charity “ is rather obnoxious.
Only 10% then?

But it will remain to be seen if the assertion is correct. The war -- or "special military operation" as Russia calls it, or "proxy war" as our Secretary od State Rubio calls it -- seems certain to continue awhile, based on various estimates in the Western press.
Funny, though, how an Austrian investment news is a resource for Freepers. The conference has been live on YouTube --

Bad “ advisors “, Trump has made many mistaken appointments in the past, remember Rex Tillerson, Sessions, Bolton,….etc, etc…..all were out to torpedo his agendas….this washed out Neo-Con Kellog is no different, he and his daughter are filling their pockets $$$ on the Ukie war.
The problem with Kellogg is he has access to President Trump who seems to have a weakness for these old fogies.
Not to mention the taxpayer bill Kellogg is running up while crisscrossing Europe with the Green Goblin nipping at his heels.
We’ve heard this tale before.
Maybe because I was in a war, when I hear what is going on, I pay zero attention to it.
Generals don’t inform lower level officers what is happening and if they do it is not for information but for effect
People don’t realize war is a lot of deception. Why wouldn’t it be
Generals are most definitely not going to tell the media what is going on. Not for informing the public
The public doesn’t need to know a whole lot less than a company grade officer needs to know
Kieth Kellogg? People can slam him all day and say Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing hiring a war monger all day. Whatever. Trump
Knows what he is doing and he is lining up people who will follow that or get out of the way
Dealing with Russians has always been about lies and more lies. Certainly from them
This is not the first term. That’s all.
I don't think that is true, and for the most part, I think that applies to Ukraine as well.
It certainly isn't true economically. Russia in WW2 was a peasant/factory worker economy that didn't have any luxury goods for people even before the war, so the war itself wasn't much of a sacrifice in that regard. Russia now is different. Enough of its people, especially young people, have had a sufficient taste of western life luxuries that dying in a trench seems very unappealing. That's why most of the Russian mobilization has focused on ethnic minorities and what amount to mercenaries. And most Ukrainian young people don't want to fight either.
And it certainly isn't true militarily, particularly for Russia. In WW2, Russia took tremendous losses in terms of manpower, but the one constant was a consistent maintenance and even upgrading up equipment. So while they started the war with the very fine base T-34 tank, over which they produced about 35k during the war, they upgraded that to the T-34/85, and produced over 45k as well. And also developed even more advanced/heavier tanks like the KV and JS series. They also had massive and improved production of artillery throughout the war.
So their armies actually got much stronger/better as the war went on.
But almost the reverse has happened in this war. If this was WW2, the Russians would have produced 10k Armatas by now. Instead, their having to retrofit tanks that are worse than what they began the war with. Their overall quality in terms of most weapons of war has actually gone down as the war has progressed. That signifies a country growing weaker in the war.
Ukraine has many of the same problems, although getting supplied by the West is an advantage Russia doesn't have.
But I think the biggest difference was that WW2 was rightly understood by the Russian people to be a war of national survival. There was no options to simply stop -- they were defending their own homes and territory from invasion. And propaganda aside, that just isn't the case now.
So it doesn't seem to me like they are enjoying this at all. It's just that Putin is driving the bus and he's willing to keep pushing.
I think this "tale" is largely true. Of course, the same largely can be said for the Ukrainian side is well. It's like the 14th round of a heavyweight championship fight, and both guys can barely lift their arms anymore.
I thought I was the only one bugged by “decimated.”
The big difference is the west is not allies as in WWII. We (USA and UK) are not supplying them with arms, equipment, and oil. Russia is now using Soviet era tanks and bmps. It has gotten so bad, that Russian soldiers are using private vehicles and motorcycles to get around. They do not have the production or manpower to invade any further. Drones are now masters of the sky.
