Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie is desperately trying to keep his fight for political survival from becoming a billionaire battleground, even ever-so-slightly suggesting Elon Musk's tacit support could backfire.
The embattled GOP congressman, who Trump has called 'the worst Republican Congressman', is walking a tightrope as he tries to downplay any suggestion that the world's richest man might come to his rescue against the president's personal revenge campaign.
'It's important that my race is not a proxy race between Donald Trump and Elon Musk,' Massie told the Daily Mail, in a bid to keep the race locally focused. 'Elon Musk has indicated support for my positions, but I don't think you should read into it.'
After all, Musk's intrusion into the race could rattle Trump's cage and remind him of Massie's transgressions. Massie's bet is that laying low will leave a president prone to distractions disengaged from the process of trying to recruit a viable opponent.
Despite the attacks levied on him by the slew of MAGA Kentucky advertisements, no real challenger has stepped up to face Massie in the primary. A Trump political adviser told the Associated Press that there is no reason to give Massie an opponent to attack this early in the cycle.
...
The top funders of the MAGA Kentucky political advertisements have been Paul Singer, John Paulson, and Miriam Adelson. Although they have backed Trump in recent elections, all three have a history of supporting left-wing causes. None of them reside in the Commonwealth.

IT's NOT happening, Freepers...
You saw the huge crowds for his events (by congressional standards). Massie will likely win the primary convincingly.
“””You saw the huge crowds for his events “””
Kamala always said she got HUGE crowds, too. mASSie is done.
I’m trying to find some type of pattern.
Besides often supporting RINOs and leftist issues, is there anything else these 3 billionaires have in common?
There is no logically coherent way to be a real Republican and at the same time as opposed to Trump as Massie is.
Something tells me the bffs in the squad aren’t going to go visit their best buddy across the aisle in Kentucky.
Massie laying low. Where? In what world has this happened? Massie delights at sticking it to President Trump, MAGA, and Republicans in that order. He votes with the democrats more than any other Republican.
Elon Musk funded some loser in Wisconsin didn't he?
BTW, he's no longer the richest man in the world. Even if he was he's certainly not the brightest.
You seem particularly exercised about Trump hater Massie.
Seems like he has a special place in your heart.
Is this your sympathy for a fellow victim of TDS?
I’ve liked him for a very long time. He used to post on a forum I frequented actually .Back in the day and before he was a congressman.
So you should mind your manners.
Massie is a political pip squeak that will eventually fade to nothing.
THERE COMES A POINT WHERE YOU ARE PEEING INTO YOUR OWN SOUP
I think Massie and I agree on what “perfect” looks like for a number of topics. Unfortunately perfect is not achievable under current conditions. Instead of building coalitions and relationships needed to push legislation in the right direction he seems to prefer thumbing his nose at the party and accomplishing nothing in his purity.
I do worry what would happen if he was the deciding vote on something important that did not meet his ideological standards. I also worry he would help the rats in their mischief in order to prove a point. I can’t think of any time he’s screwed us with a deciding vote but why should we have to worry about that for a Republican in such a safe district?
So... Massie has TDS
Do YOU suffer from TDS?
I do worry what would happen if he was the deciding vote on something important that did not meet his ideological standards.
He was in this position on the Rules committee in 2023 and voted for “Biden’s debt ceiling increase” which was really Congress, GOP’s and a deal
It’s the one time he has been in that position and he cast the vote with the party line
And people like Antony Soprano like to mention it frequently which is ironic as he cannot win. Rebel and get scorned, go with the party and get scorned.
There is no TDS
Thomas was there before Trump and will be there after.
He’s also said Trump is the best president of his lifetime which is a common refrain among many libertarians but he’s not perfect and there are issues
then you have no grasp of Kentucky politics. Look at the other representatives of that state. Whether R or D, they are all a bunch of crooks.
mASSie, Rand and the Turtle. All tards.
