The Brief
The owner of Eddy Cash 4 Gold in Oakland thought the alleged perpetrators were customers trying to sell gold before a shootout that left two of the suspects dead, according to court records. The store owner exchanged gunfire with the suspects, and when it was over, two of them were dead. They were Dennis Oyewole, 25, and Devinelle Broussard, Two surviving suspects now face attempted robbery and murder charges. The third suspect suspect is 16 years old.

Fair trade, gold for lead? Of 7 guns recovered, 4 belonged to the store owner. Perps hadn't figured on a fair fight, and being outgunned.
Did the article state that the owner used the .308 in this stickup, or did he just have it handy? I can’t imagine finding a long rifle very useful in this situation unless you were well trained on it. On the other hand, if a “.308 bolt gun” means some sort of wild monster pistol, I’m on board!

Well, at least it’s got a happy ending!
Four Hayward yutes tried to rob the San Ramon pawn shop Gold N Treasures on San Ramon Valley Boulevard next to the Togos sandwich shop (which isn't there anymore, neither is the pawn shop), and the owner shot and killed one of them after the kid brandished a gun at him.
The shooting was ruled as justified homicide, and the three other men were arrested and charged with homicide under California's "provocative act doctrine." They were convicted of all charges but there is no record of their sentences.
And now the Heller's Jewelry was robbed yesterday. I bought some rings at Heller's many years ago when they were still at their Crow Canyon Road location next to Max's Diner.

Store owner used a bolt action .308 and did well. In California he still might be up on charges for shooting democrat voters dead.
