Left-wing comedian Bill Maher tried to trap Border Czar Tom Homan this weekend with the standard liberal fantasy: just give amnesty to the millions of illegal immigrants already in the country. Homan shredded that argument piece by piece. His reasoning was so airtight that even Maher’s leftist crowd had no choice but to applaud. It’s not every day you see progressives cheer for enforcement, but logic wins when it’s delivered that well.
Maher asked Homan why the agency couldn’t just go easier on those in the country illegally.
Homan didn’t mince words: “What I’m saying is, that’s why you have to show there’s consequences. Because if you send a message there’s no consequences, and you want to reward illegal behavior, that’s not going to stop.”
Maher then responded with the left’s favorite talking point about the immigration raids. “But what we also see is people being just taken away who are just regular-day workers," he said. "The waitress who worked for 14 years at some coffee shop. And And everybody’s like, ’Oh, you know what? We voted to get rid of the bad people, you know, the people you were just talking about, but not Carol. What’s going on there?’ Don’t you think it’s been a little heavy-handed? Don’t you think you’ve picked up a bunch of people who shouldn’t be picked up at all? It doesn’t seem like it was done with a scalpel.”
Homan responded firmly, laying out the agency’s priorities and the broader impact on the immigration system. “What I think about every day is, again, we prioritize the worst first, and the numbers show we do it. What I’ve said from day one, if you’re in the country illegally, you’re not off the table.

If you want to be a part of greatest nation, there’s a right way and wrong way to do it. If like it or not, the ones who are here illegally cheated the system.”
Homan went on to explain how illegal immigration affects those following the law: “They moved themselves to the front of the line and they’ve overwhelmed the immigration court system back nine, ten years, which means the people who are really trying to come here the right way are sitting in the back of the bus, right? It’s just like—but people don’t talk about these 10 million, 10.5 million who came to the border under Biden. Well, they’re asylum seekers. What people don’t understand, if you look at immigration court data over the last 10 years, nearly nine out of 10 of them will get an order of removal because they don’t qualify for support asylum.
They’re not escaping fear and persecution from their home government because of race, religion, and political affiliation. They’re coming here for a better life and I get that. But while they’re clogging up the system and cheating the system, there are literally thousands of people in this world that really are escaping fear and persecution from their home countries that are sitting in the back of the bus.”
“So there, there’s a reason we’re a nation of laws,” he said. “And if people don’t like what ICE is doing, they go scream at Congress. We’re enforcing the law ’cause they enacted it.”
Wow. Even dems cannot argue with logic and common sense when it’s just undeniable. Sometimes, anyway. Tomorrow they’ll forget about logic and common sense for some other idiocy.
Homan is an effective advocate because he knows what he is talking about and also has seen the horrors of mass illegal immigration - trafficking children for prostitution, senseless deaths, criminal gangs. Republicans used to buy into the BS that people coming across the border illegally were “good people looking for a better life” as if that was sufficient reason to break the law. So the Right was on the defensive. Now, we’re not. And people like Homan are the reason why. Every time a Bill Maher talks about the waitress who gets send to Mexico after living here 10 years, Homan can talk about the Mexican 12-year-old who was forced into prostitution, or the dead babies he found in a locked trailer.
Homan’s advantage is by reflex they underestimate his intellect. By his appearance they think he is shallow single minded oaf so they treat him accordingly. That’s when he goes in for the kill
Not sure they were applauding his argument. It seemed more they were reacting an a applause sign that is done when leaving for commercial or scene break.

Call me mean or whatever but I don’t think that is blanket valid for coming here either. Stay and fight for your country. Our ancestors did. You should only be allowed entry if you can enrich our country, not be a drag on it (we have enough Americans that can do that).
Public information is the most important part of Homan’s job and he does it brilliantly, making sure that true compassion and human respect is a top priority. That he is facing such a barrage of BS from the mass mediots in support of the criminal left is what is tragic.
How about it, Democrats. You party held the reins of power and did nothing.
IMO your party left things as they were to create a wedge issue when it was needed, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah, we need to stop it for about 20 years.
That isn't emphasized enough- the law breaking doesn't stop with just crossing the border. There's a whole lawless system of violence, drug smuggling and exploitation that goes along with it.
And besides the obvious threat to American democracy from non-citizens voting and distorting the assignment of Congressional districts, there's the encouragement of an utterly lawless class of corporate looters who feel free to violate employment laws (and every other law) to make a quick buck.
Remember June 16, 2015 when then-candidate Trump announced he was running for president? He said the following that caused such a huge uproar and stink on the left. We've come a long way in eleven years!

I know a Vietnamese (now American) woman with a successful business who applied for her single sister to come to the USA after their parents in VN had died and the sister was alone. She had spent 12 years and $thousands on applications, medical tests, etc...
She was SO angered by FJB's purposeful marxist migrant invasion, she organized all the ethnic Vietnamese she knew in our city to support Trump.

I wish he added: “We have had multiple major amnesties in the past... usually with Democrats promising to fund and enforce a border wall each time, and then fail to do so... and these amnesties have done nothing but increase the flood of people coming here without going through the legal channels. Amnesties do not work. They make the problem worse, every single time. Let’s stop making the problem worse for once.”
