Trump announces the next city where he’s sending federal agents
NY Post ^ | 09/12/2025 | Steven Nelson

President Trump announced Friday that Memphis would be the next city to get a federal policing surge — and the second following Washington, DC.

“We’re going to Memphis. Memphis is that’s the next — deeply troubled and the mayor is happy. The Democrat mayor, the mayor is happy. And the governor, Tennessee, the governor is happy,” Trump said on “Fox & Friends.”

“Deeply troubled — we’re going to fix that, just like we did Washington. I would have preferred going to Chicago,” Trump said.

Trump said the move was pitched to him by a railroad executive, serving on the board of FedEx.

“He said, ‘When I walk one block to my hotel. They won’t allow me to do it. They put me in an armored vehicle with bulletproof glass to take me one block.’ He said, ‘It’s so terrible.'”

Trump added: “So we’re going to Memphis. I’m just announcing that now, and we’ll straighten that out, National Guard and anybody else we need. And by the way, we’ll bring in the military too if we need it. But National Guard — but Memphis is, look, it’s a great music city, it’s, you know, home of Elvis and everything else.”

What happened with Chicago? Maybe they will allow Chicago to continue to degrade, no?

So the President WAS listening to Todd Starnes on Newsmax2, when Todd was pleading for some relief from the excessive crime rate in Memphis, Todd’s home town.

No surprise. Memphis is a mess and FedEX is stuck there. Detroit is probably a lost cause.

Good governance and good politics.

Just my opinion, but if this moves the black vote nationally just 2 to 3 percent toward the GOP, does this move a few congressional seats to the GOP, particularly in those areas/cities that Trump addresses?

At worst, this doesn’t help Democrats any.

Memphis was the most dangerous city in America when I lived there thirty years ago...sounds like it hasn’t improved since.

They aren’t allowing anything.

I think the president is encouraging Chicago to solve its own problems by showing the populace what they are missing.

Memphis’ governance is willing.

Chicago’s governance is not.

Maybe President Trump can send federal agents to Austin, TX. The city council and the Travis County DA are doing everything they can to make Austin worse than Chicago and Memphis combined.

THIS SUCKS for me. All of the people who annoy you will be leaving Memphis and drive to Little Rock, already a very dangerous city. We won’t be able to go into town methinks.

If they find Marie (home on the south side, high upon a ridge), give her her father’s love.

Good choice. Now all the democrats who hold up Memphrica as the only violent city because “Memphis is red” Will watch Memphis lower crime with federal help while their violent s holes (Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit) continue to be violent s holes.

Screw Chicago. As long as they keep electing moron governors and mayors like they have been doing for 50 years they are getting the government they deserve. Let the city go to hell.

“He said, ‘When I walk one block to my hotel. They won’t allow me to do it. They put me in an armored vehicle with bulletproof glass to take me one block.’ He said, ‘It’s so terrible.’”

The last time I was in Memphis was the summer of ‘97. The downtown and Beale Street seemed OK. The then-GF and I took light rail to the Lorraine Motel. There was a 2-3 block walk from light rail to the Motel. There was a Memphis cop on every corner.

Of course, we didn’t see any of the really bad area in Memphis but your post got me thinking things have gotten real bad that someone needs a ride in an armored car. Or was this just something special given to a higher-value person?

Let Chicago do what it does best. They’ll eventually solve their own problem.

IMHO Trump should be sending ICE to the cities in the SWING states FIRST.

CA, IL, MA, MD are not going to turn Purple or much less RED by getting rid of their illegals.
However, there are places like Manchester, NH and Detroit, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Newark that might have a major impact on the NEXT election IF they got rid of a couple million illegals.

Then when you get rid of the illegals in SWING states, go after the Light Blue states and finally the DARK BLUE ones.

Beale Street is the tourist area and it is protected. The rest of the city is on its own.

Those are rookie numbers. I remember when we used to get triple digits every day.
