Cal Poly Pomona postponed its annual fall job fair this week after students, alumni and community members criticized its inclusion of Customs and Border Protection as an in-person recruiter, underscoring the heightened sensitivity about immigration agencies on college campuses this fall.
The interim president of the Los Angeles County campus with nearly 28,000 students — the majority of whom are Latino — said leadership responded to the criticism and decided to rethink their approach to job fairs.

Public service is noble. Protesting it, and job opportunities for others, is shameful. Civil service has been traditionally more stable than working in the private sector.
If I am in a hiring position again — and that is likely to happen next year — I cannot think of a single California or “Ivy League” school I’d hire anyone from.
Great way to expose the instigators of the protest and find out what illegal criminals or grifters they are trying to protect. Easily done.
Cal poly, Pomona used to be an almost impossible school to get into. My high school grades just weren’t up to it.
They must have changed a lot.
Full disclosure; I barely squeaked into Seattle U. and then Seattle Pacific U. some many years later. I graduated with Honors in Computer Science, class of “90” age 34.
Lots of regional state university students in the East would love to be hired by ICE (and get that $50k), with a move to CA just the adventurous icing on the cake.
what a shame how some large and costly (and in some instances taxpayer=supported like this one) colleges .... have rotted out
I won’t hire from any of these “enemy encampments” in our midst
hopefully, the taxpayers can get their heavy subsidies for these rotted out colleges terminated ASAP, and then turn the facilities over to some public good
Suspend any federal contracts, grants and all federal funding until the regents and administration facilitates recruiting.
