Roger Clemens Reacts To President Trump’s Hall Of Fame Demand

In one of his latest social media outbursts, President Donald J. Trump pounded the table for legendary right-handed baseball pitcher Roger Clemens to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Clemens, one of the most dominant pitchers in MLB history, has long had the resume to have a place in Cooperstown. But complications from alleged anabolic steroid and HGH use in the infamous 2007 Mitchell Report have mostly tainted his legacy.

Clemens was an 11-time All-Star, seven-time Cy Young winner, and two-time World Series champion across his 23 MLB seasons. And he also won the AL MVP award as a member of the Boston Red Sox in 1986.

After playing a round of golf with Clemens and his son Kacy this past weekend, the Republican president was adamant that “Rocket” is deserving of an induction into the hall and went at-length about why in a post to Truth Social.

President Trump booed.

Trump makes demand to Baseball Hall

“Roger Clemens was easily one of the few Greatest Pitchers of All Time, winning 354 Games, the Cy Young Award seven times (A Record, by a lot!), and played in six World Series, winning two!” Trump wrote. “He was second to Nolan Ryan in most strike-outs, and he should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, NOW!”

“People think he took drugs, but nothing was proven. He never tested positive, and Roger, from the very beginning, totally denies it,” the MAGA leader added. “He was just as great before those erroneous charges were leveled at him. That rumor has gone on for years, and there has been no evidence whatsoever that he was a ‘druggie.'”

“This is going to be like Pete Rose where, after over 4,000 Hits, they wouldn’t put him in the Hall of Fame until I spoke to the Commissioner, and he promised to do so, but it was essentially a promise not kept because he only ‘opened it up’ when Pete died and, even then, he said that Pete Rose only got into the mix because of DEATH,” Trump continued.

“We are not going to let that happen in the case of Roger Clemens. 354 Wins — Put him in NOW. He and his great family should not be forced to endure this ‘stupidity’ any longer!”

Rocket reacts

It didn’t take long for Trump’s words to get back to Clemens who responded in kind on X that afternoon.

“I appreciate the love! DT knows more than anyone the fake news that’s out there,” Clemens said. “Everyone has their agendas… I played the game to change my family’s direction generationally and to WIN!”

Clemens has maintained that he never used steroids and was never convicted of anything in the years of litigation that followed George Mitchell‘s explosive PED findings.

The 63-year-old Texas native never tested positive or failed a single drug test while playing, but he’s been guilty in the court of public opinion since the alleged cheating came out — much like former Giants slugger Barry Bonds.

After failing to reach 75% of the vote in his final year on the ballot, Clemens was down to his last strike back in 2022. Now the only way he could eventually get in is through the Eras Committee which rules on players that have been retired for 15 years or longer.

Last year, the committee elected the late Dick Allen and Dave Parker to earn induction, both of whom boasted more than enough accomplishments to make it. But unfortunately neither were able to see or feel the honor after passing away in 2020 and this June, respectively.

Clemens was also hurt by being a jerk.
Well most great athletes have an edge to them ,that’s what conjures up their greatness. There is no doubt he deserves to be in the HOF. Our President is right on the money ,as usual.

The sport (football included and other pro sports) has been cheapened for years: exorbitant ticket prices, ghetto performances in the endzones, after dunking etc..., overpaid athletes (and owners by fiat), all the BS that goes on with a televised game by the announcers, all the excessive selling of their junk, the obsession with fantasy leagues and betting on every little stat etc...

It is very hard nowadays just to be able to watch a game.
