Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch demurred Saturday when asked if she’d run for mayor in four years.
“I’m not a politician. I’m a public servant,” said Tisch, 44, who received a rousing welcome from the roughly 100 people at the Southampton hotspot 75 Main, per an attendee who called her reception “tremendous.”
“People think she’s doing a terrific job as police commissioner,” the source said.
The commissioner, who was introduced at the breakfast by First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro, spoke for nearly 30 minutes minutes and touched on a range of Gotham-centric topics.
She said she opposed President Trump bringing in the National Guard or troops to patrol New York City.
“Violent crime is at record lows,” Tisch said as she cited Gotham’s low murder rate this year, among other stats.
“The NYPD is the best police department, the best trained,” she added.
She said “some rhetoric at protests is disgusting and deeply offensive” but added that the NYPD has to respect “freedom of speech.”
And she said she loves her job as police commissioner as she did her prior stint as commissioner of the Department of Sanitation.
The roughly 100 attendees were either backers of former Governor Andrew Cuomo or Mayor Eric Adams, but mostly had frontrunner Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani on their mind.

Seriously? Record lows?
“””Seriously? Record lows? “””
When a felony gets pled down to jaywalking it reduces serious crimes.
Huh? Has that even been discussed?
If Mamdani gets elect d someone like Tisch will look like Abraham Lincoln.
A “terrific job”? I guess a hundred people think so...
NYC voters just don’t seem to know how to catch a break.
“NYC voters just don’t seem to know how to catch a break.”
The way they vote might explain it!
Lower than 1959.
I wonder exactly who in New York thinks she is doing a tremendous job, the wealthy that get extra police protection? Certainly not the average New Yorker that’s dealing with the homeless, roving gangs, rapists, robbers, carjackers and murderers, all with less and less police protection.
