Amid all the other things that have rattled the deep state -- notably the search and seizure of evidence from Trump-hating John Bolton's residence and office -- President Trump has quietly shut down the 'five eyes' intelligence arrangement between the English-speaking countries -- the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, rocking the deep-state's overseas allies, too. The comity is over.
Which makes sense, given that these countries are now electing leftists, not moving in tandem with the U.S. on the policy front. It was one thing for Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher to pool intelligence about a common enemy. It's quite another for President Trump to be doing the same with the likes of Keir Starmer and Mark Carney, even if they're able to maintain civility with Trump, unlike a lot of leftists. They are simple going their own way. They have no common enemy. The same as true for whatever they've got Down Under.
But that's the broadest picture.
The secondary picture is that this alliance attempted to undercut President Trump during his first term. An alliance isn't much use if the allies have decided that you are the common enemy. More disgusting still, they have yet to admit their error, meaning, they will do it again, so bye-bye, bozos.
American Thinker's retired founder, Thomas Lifson, has been keeping an eye on this picture and has written a terrific analysis of the picture, drawing on the credible sources he knows. On his Substack, which I believe is free to read, his analysis is must-reading for all the angles and backstories that make this alliance a thing of the past.
He writes:
The “Five Eyes” intelligence sharing arrangement has put the United States’ hundred billion dollar+ intelligence budget at the service of the UK, Australia, Canada

It’s a big win for Russia and China because they have broken several American trusted friends. So that now, they are no longer trusted. I am not against Tulsi doing this. I am just sorry that it had to be done. There was a time when we were aligned. Now they are sadly broken governments who do not believe in human rights. Of course our CIA has a similar problem. We have to fix our governments separately before we can trust again in the future.
With friends like those, who needs enemies.
About time.
One perhaps unforeseen side effect.
Now, “five eyes” is “four eyes”, and even if need be, we can’t hit an alliance with glasses.
Good!
These countries are no longer the staunch and trusted Allies of WW1/WW2.
They are turning their own societies into Orwellian dystopias of censorship and control, while fully working toward and promoting globalism on the international level.
Five Eyes is how each nation illegally got past their own laws. “We didn’t spy on our citizens, they did.”
Exactly hitting the problem. Our allies doing the spying on our citizens. While working for a defense contractor in the 90’s we had an unclassified briefing in which we were told every electronic communication in the world was being monitored. Every phone call. Fax. … Of course the U.S. was prohibited from doing it here but it was made clear it was our “friends.”
Good Riddance-They don’t even speak American!
The Cold War Era, yes.
The times have changed.
You could argue that the UK is no longer "British" today. Nevertheless, why would we share our secrets with a country that is Orwellian?
Like…they trust “us”
But only if we elect leftwing libs with their same agenda
Think they “ trust” Trump when everyone in the IC they worked with in the past signed a letter in the NYT describing Trump as a world danger?
The head of British GCHQ resigned the day Trump was inaugurated in 2016.
He knew about the US IC Russia fake collusion coup and the role 5 Eyes played in it?
I remember when judge Nap talked about this and then disappeared for a few weeks. He came back as a new man.
Ok … but what I think you’re missing is how long the intelligence community and 5eyes have been broken and antithetical to human rights.
It’s well before Trump went down the escalator and possibly my whole life; and one can readily make a case that the IC is at the heart of the moves to turn the Anglosphere into a 24/7 surveillance state.
We’ll just have to let Eurasia and Eastasia handle their own forever wars while we clean up Oceania. Doubleplusgood?
I see that picture and see too much shadow of King George partnering with the DC Swamp to spy on Americans.
And not a Chinese or Russian Russian Russian in sight.
“Of course this is a big win for China and Russia.”
In what way? How is getting rid of an alliance that tried to destroy the United States good for China and Russia?
This is how american libsocs got around spying laws on our citizens. They couldn’t directly do it, but foreign intel could, and they’d hand over what they had.
“Exactly hitting the problem. Our allies doing the spying on our citizens. ...and we, almost certainly, gave the technology they needed to spy on Americans and thereby skirt our laws.
Yup.
We have no business protecting woke socialists. Its now just backing one set of socialists or the other. Its just different geographical flavors of socialism.
I mean uk has been socialist a very long time and so has much of europe. Let the socialists deal with the socialists, now, western or eastern.
Mega dittos to that!
Five Eyes is effectively an agreement to hand to the four other countries the right to spy on every citizen - even helping to do so with access to tooling - on your own citizens in every way your own government disallows your own government from doing so.
There is no law against having external spying agencies do electronic surveillance of all citizens that would have otherwise needed court orders or subpoenas. Giving all tooling to England, for instance, to do mass spying on US citizens through such unlimited access of course means they give you all of what you wanted to know but never wanted your own government or legal system to ever fathom, occurred. Sadly, we did the same, in return, crushing all conservative ls in the other countries, too.
This, if true, is a phenomenal step. Now, unleash what can be known about what was done.
I would not be surprised that this also allowed foreign spies to do things here, unfettered, as well.
I’ll never forget the foreboding I felt when the we elected a former Air America/CIA spook, George Herbert Walker Bush as President. Between him and Bubba, it was as if two crime families were struggling over the future carcass Reagan had revived.
