The High Court judgement granting a temporary court injunction to prevent asylum seekers from being housed at a hotel in Epping will be a political and practical headache for the government.
Practically, the Home Office has less than a month to find alternative accommodation for the asylum seekers housed at the Bell Hotel.
The hope – though perhaps not the expectation – is that Tuesday's judgement does not set a precedent.
Epping Forest District Council has to return to court in the autumn and it is possible the temporary ban on housing asylum seekers will not be made permanent.
But the Home Office's lawyers have acknowledged that this is more than a local difficulty on the outskirts of Greater London.
They have said that the decision could "substantially impact" the government's ability to house asylum seekers in hotels across the UK.
The use of hotels has halved from 402 at their peak to 210 now but some contracts are in place until 2029, and pressure will grow on ministers to find alternative accommodation at a greater pace than envisaged.
And although the number of asylum seekers in hotels fell by 6,000 in the first three months of the year, 32,000 remain.

The one thing that 1984 missed, the fly in the propaganda is that people are sensitive to the meaning of words in context vs the surface meeting. So asylum seekers is designed to give people who have come in illegally a positive image that engenders sympathy , charity and acceptance and even status as a superior being under the DEI doctrine of white inferiority and narrow minded old think (cf AOC demonstrating Sen Kennedy’s backwardness, prejudic, and closed mindedness).
The reality is that asylum seeker has turned into a very negative epithet with images of violence lawlessness and squalor everywhere except the radical left in San Francisco and the grifting dolts in DC and the political elite in major democratic cities.
The story is talking about the situation in the UK NOT the US
Point taken but once we get past that, are the fundamentals of the public image nowadays of an asylum seeker/illegal alien much different between here in the USA and over there?
I have Danish family and friends who now bitterly regret their liberal governments acceptance of Middle East and African “refugees” into the DK and state they are unwilling to assimilate, work, and live peacefully among them, choosing instead to scrape by on free public assistance and create squalor and crime around them.
I did not miss that point. It’s the same, regardless.
The obvious solution is to have British boats in the channel to seize and tow the boats back to Froggy Land. I know this stinking maggots will try to puncture to sink their motorized inflatables. Let them and throw them life preservers. Then scoop them up and take them back to France.
A whole month is plenty of time to deport those filthy invaders out of the country.

Put them in the Home Office employee’s homes.
Problem solved.

The obvious solution is to have British boats in the Channel to fire upon and sink the boats when they enter UK territory. Towing them back to Froggy Land only lets the problem fester.
Same excrement, different Deep State.

I’ve been trying to think of ways American patriots can support British patriots.
Economically cuz talk is cheap.
Maybe a sister cities or towns thing between fellow flag flying locales. Buycotts (sic), donations for flag replacements, letters and gifts for morale boosting.
It would have to citizen based, though, because I can tell you my local RINO pols would not be on board with this in any way that was meaningful...
The Thames could handle quite a few.
32,000 remain.”
32,000 imported savages living in motels for free. Imagine paying $250-500 a night while sharing the motel with the hordes staying there for nothing.
The coming Civil War in the UK...
