Newsmax Will Pay $67 Million to Settle Dominion Defamation Lawsuit
The New York Times ^ | Aug. 18, 2025 | Katie Robertson

The right-wing cable channel Newsmax has agreed to pay $67 million to settle a libel lawsuit that Dominion Voting Systems had brought against the channel for falsely claiming that the voting machine company had rigged votes in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

The settlement, which the companies completed on Aug. 15, was disclosed in an S.E.C. filing by Newsmax. It noted that Newsmax would make the payments in three installments by Jan. 15, 2027.

A Dominion spokeswoman confirmed the deal in a statement, saying, “We are pleased to have settled this matter.” Newsmax did not offer an apology, saying in a statement on Monday that it stood by its coverage as “fair, balanced and conducted within professional standards of journalism.” A Newsmax spokesman said the settlement did not require the company to make an apology or a retraction.

...

In April, Judge Eric M. Davis of the Delaware Superior Court ruled that Dominion had presented “clear and convincing evidence” that the statements from Newsmax were false and defamatory, allowing the case to proceed to a trial.

The trial, where a jury would decide whether Newsmax had broadcast the claims despite knowing they were false and the extent of damages to Dominion, had been set for earlier this year but was postponed.

...

Newsmax settled a similar case brought by another voting technology company, Smartmatic, in September for $40 million.

Some cases are still underway. Fox News faces a $2.7 billion lawsuit from Smartmatic, which is set to proceed to trial in a Manhattan state court unless the parties reach a settlement. Fox has said it is willing to defend itself at trial, and it has criticized Smartmatic’s damages claims as “intended to chill First Amendment freedoms.”

wasn’t it found that their machines were connected and had the ability to be compromised?

Not that this is the same thing but interesting this comes out the same day as PDJTs truth about getting rid of mail in ballots....because the system is so corrupt. Nobody will convince me the machines aren’t part of the same corruption machine....

There are damn powerful forces protecting this company. It was proven their machines switched votes in a Michigan county in 20. The powers that are protecting these machines want to keep them in place for future elections. Somehow they are forcing this settlement again with no trial and of course no discovery.

wasn’t it found that their machines were connected and had the ability to be compromised?

Tina Peters discovered this in the Colorado elections. She was prosecuted and jailed for hiring a consultant who found absolute proof that the machines were being commanded to erase log files and other data by remote access, presumably by Dominion technicians.

The rationale for her conviction was that she had unlawfully disclosed election data to an unauthorized consultant. She got what was effectively a sentence of life imprisonment.

The Dominion corporate headquarters for USA is in Denver, Colorado.

Dominion has won a number of lawsuits against people who criticized the company and their systems. It seems to be their standard operating procedure.

” Newsmax did not offer an apology, saying in a statement on Monday that it stood by its coverage as “fair, balanced and conducted within professional standards of journalism.”

Then why the hell are you paying these lousy bastards 67 million? Dominion should be forced to prove their machines are 100% legit and can't be tampered with. They can't prove that and you guys should know it. "Settle" is just another way of saying we chicken out and don't stand behind our reporting.

Yeah, this ticks me off. Glad I didn't buy any of their stock now.

Therein lies the problem, they don't have to and you can't prove anything unless a judge lets you, they won't, and we have to obey judges right?

“Here is my Vegas DefCon presentation from last week on how to hack the Dominion Voting machines.

There is a unprotected SQLite database on the ICX voting machines that can be altered. It also stores the encryption keys in plain text.”

What happens when the rigging is proved? That is coming soon.

It has alreadfy been shown that many machines in 2016 had results that included fractioinal votes which shows that the votes were arranged by percentages desired. In those precincts it is callculated that 5% of votes were transferred from one candidate to the other.It almost resulted in the Democrat winning all those districts when post vote polls showed the Republican ahead by 2 or 3%.

“...for falsely claiming that the voting machine company had rigged votes in the 2020 U.S. presidential election”

I wonder, how was it determined that the claims were false?

The machines switched Trump votes to Biden in a Michigan country it was proven 100%. A hand audit switched them back. The only time such a audit was done I believe. The rat SOS said it was just a glitch. The local media nodded their heads and dropped it

~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s a mystery and it has always seemed to me that somebody knows there is something coming that will be all part of the grand reversal, not just for Newsmax but Fox and others. I wonder for all of these cases how much money has actually changed or when it is scheduled to change hands. Where would the funds come from for Newsmax?
Sue and settle is a money laundering scheme. Dominion has been paid handsomely for its role in the steal.
had the ability to be compromised and
WERE compromised are 2 different things.
One lesson learned from 2020 is that proving vote fraud is menial tasks of hard work knocking on doors, working in the trenches. Wild allegations, even if true, are worthless unless one also has the facts. The new media on our side did not do the hardwork, nor did anyone else.
Example: At the GA 2020 Dem primary the non-establishment Dems made the same allegations of vote fraud that the Trump supporters made in Nov-Dec 2020. But did Trump supporter investigate the allegations? Knock door to door to verify the allegations? No. Allegations, even if true, are useless unless the hard work is done to collect the facts.
