Coalition of the Willing to Toughen Anti-Russian Sanctions if Alaska Talks Bring No Result

The participants have also spoken in favor of firm security guarantees for Ukraine

LONDON, August 13. /TASS/. The European ‘Coalition of the Willing’ urged to toughen anti-Russian sanctions if the forthcoming talks between the presidents of Russia and the United States in Alaska fail to produce a ceasefire, according to a statement released by the UK Prime Minister’s Office.

The participants of the recent online meeting on Ukraine "were clear that the path to peace in Ukraine cannot be decided without Ukraine," reads the joint statement, published on behalf of the meeting’s co-chairs - UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

"It was necessary to continue an approach that combined active diplomacy, support to Ukraine and pressure on Russia. A diplomatic solution must protect Ukraine’s and Europe’s vital security interests," the document says.

The ‘Coalition of the Willing’ emphasized that peace talks on Ukraine "can only take place in the context of a ceasefire or a lasting and significant cessation of hostilities."

The participants threatened to impose "sanctions and wider economic measures" if Moscow "does not agree to a ceasefire in Alaska."

The participants have also spoken in favor of firm security guarantees for Ukraine, adding that no limitations should be placed on Ukraine’s armed forces or its cooperation with other countries.

"Russia could not have a veto against Ukraine‘s pathway to EU and NATO," the document says.

That’s fine.

Just so long as we’re not part of it.

What actually do they have left to sanction?

They will stop imports of all products from nations that trade with Russia. That means all the Brixs nations are on their own economically. Nobody will do business with China, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia, ect.. They will have to have their own separate economic development, with no western partners or trading.

If they thought Tariffs were bad, and caused Riots in China, wait until the economy shuts down in India and China without the ability to sell products. Further, the longer it goes on the more likely the west won’t have any dependency on them. They will forever lose those markets.

In short, it will likely force Russia to use Axis, I mean Soviet block, sorry, trading partner nations soldiers and equipment in large numbers to end the war. Oh wait…… they are already doing that….

Idiotic, Europe wants the war to continue.
It started because of the threat of Ukraine joining NATO, and still they say no peace will be agreed to unless Ukraine can join NATO.

Is the EU still buying Russian oil? How can the talk about sanctions?

Exactly. The USA needs no part of that.

Whoever this "coalition" actually is, means naught to me. Just as long as America isn't part of it in any way, including financially.

That coalition is NOT willing to fight and die themselves though. I don’t have any respect for them.

Pathway to NATO. Sounds like a poison pill to me.

“Nobody will do business with China, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia, ect.. ”

Dream on. What’s left of Europe’s economy would completely implode.

That sounds like a complete fantasy. U.S. cutting off trade with China alone would be a massive blow to the U.S. There’s a reason Trump delayed his promised China tariffs mere hours before they were to go into effect a couple days ago.

If there was anything significantly left to sanction, it would have been sanctioned already.

They hate Russia because Russia has an abundance of natural riches.

Europe in particular sees the riches of Russia as a way to continue their socialist ways... they have run out of other peoples money and want Russian booty to continue on.

GREED and ENVY

lol.

First I heard that Europe can’t survive without Russian oil. Now it’s the US and Europe can’t survive without Chinese products.

Painful for supply for about two years for the West. After that, it’s just forever over for Russia and China. There will be no recovery economically or politically for either. Oh, by the way. I don’t think Trump is bluffing. He is visibly upset about Putin lying to him and manipulating, then continuing to bomb innocent targets. He just delayed completion of the Tariffs for China, and I think it was forward thinking that it wouldn’t matter soon.
