TEHAMA COUNTY, Calif. — The ongoing political clash between Texas Republicans and Democrats over the state's congressional redistricting has taken a new turn to California's court system after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit in Tehama County over the weekend. The lawsuit targets six Texas Democratic legislators who, along with over 50 colleagues, left the state more than two weeks ago to block Republicans from advancing a redistricting plan that would add five Republican seats in the U.S. House of Representatives....

Having lived in Tehema county

I can sure you there is no redder part of California.

They host the world famous Rodeo Roundup.

This county has a nick name bestowed by convicted felons.

They call it

ToHangYa county.

This is very very very good news for Texas and the nation

And very very very bad news for democriminals.

Hmm. Greetings from Placer County, still a plurality GOP county, even after being invaded by tons of Bay Area people.

TEHAMA is a mph town county, I guess 80 or 90 miles from here. That’s a very curious venue for this action. I don’t think it will stand. If no legislators fled to TEHAMA, then it’s pretty transparently forum shopping. Remember, only democrats get to forum shop

This county takes law enforcement seriously.

Even the Mexican gangs mind their manners there and avoid this county like the plague.

I even once saw chuck Norris fueling his truck in Red Bluff once during rodeo week.

I’ve been a member of the CA bar for over 30 years. Of course there are exceptions, but the CA Superior Court, each of the 58 counties a seperate agency, isn’t the circus that the federal courts are. They don’t have good venue in Tehama, and venue there will not stand

Kinda cowardly not denying you are a registered Democrat.

Or expressing hope something constructive can happen.

Being a lawyer, I expected more of a response than just banging your yawn shoe on the podium.

Something along the lines of “ this is why this won’t stand because...”

You know, a legal reason.

Guess that 30 years is kinda meaningless.

;-)

Btw, if I end up wrong, I’ll concede , and post

” I stand corrected”

I notice you refused to even acknowledge the question.

Btw, I assumed you were a lawyer

It occured to me just now that you could instead be part of the judiciary.

Care to expand ?

You know, bless us with your legal reasoning as a lawyer or judge .

Btw, I bet Mark Elias has 30 years too .

Not necessarily a positive thing .

But seriously, enlighten us why this action by Paxton won’t stand

You know , a legal reason,

not some lame

” not a fed circus”

drive by comment .

Remember, only Democrats get to forum shop.

Our enemies can sometimes be our best teachers.

It is good to see we are fighting back with effective methods.

I think that venue in this case is proper pursuant to California Rule of Civil Procedure 395 (b) which states, in salient part: “ If none of the defendants reside in the state or if they reside in the state and the county where they reside is unknown to the plaintiff, the action may be tried in the superior court in any county that the plaintiff may designate in his or her complaint,***”
