Where do you live when you consider a home that costs $800K is mediocre?

If you want a house (as opposed to a condo) here's what $800K gets you in Los Angeles.

The “corporate” buyers will snap up these homes.

Buy low, sell high applies to more than stocks.
A year from now, Expect 1/2 million people to leave the NYC area for states that seem to welcome them.

Historically a big mistake is that northern immigrants bring with them the politics they fled up north. And the welcoming states make no effort to educate the immigrants from up north as to the realities of politics.

I’m in Sandy Springs GA(adjacent north of Atlanta in Fulton County). What is amazing the number of houses and condos vacant, often in disrepair, in both “good” and “bad” neighborhoods.

One problem in GA seems to be the same as the IL I left, in an attempt to micromanage housing safety, affordability, equality, and fairness, government just puts on so many taxes, building codes, zoning codes, purchase and rental requirements that the free market is not free.

Yes, if the free market were allowed to work, next to expensive housing would be cheap housing for the maids and fast food workers that work for the rich.

Free market will not be perfect, nor perfectly fair....but it will be better than the alternatives.

Ne too. Prices dropping is bad? As usual, they don’t report dropping from super highs.

I don’t live in Indy proper, but it looks like this is a comparable property in price.

https://www.redfin.com/IN/Indianapolis/5719-Autumn-Breeze-Ln-46237/home/60177999

A small lot, a huge house, mostly updated.

Of course, we don’t have all the crazy regulations you do out there.

No one puts on airs here. What you see is what you get. It’s as genuine a place as I’ve ever lived or seen in my life. I’m sure that irks some people.

Both of which are very good.

Good?

Or relative?

So, your land completely surrounds his property?

You don't know that.

Expensive neighborhoods don't normally reside "next to" cheap neighborhoods for fast food workers and maids.

"High interest rates mean less inflation."

No, they do not. This is the lie that the central banks keep selling to us...

The fundamental cause of inflation is government spending, funded by debasing the currency.

This.

clickbait bullshit article: the only real “plunge” is in the shithole, Oakland with almost a 7% drop ... 12 of the other 13 dropped by 3% or less and half in the list dropped under 1% ...

except for the shithole Oakland, this kind of price fluctuation is noise ...

Our neighborhood tends to have very few houses come on the market and we’re in that $325,000-400,000 price range which you can’t find a new home for in our area. Our house is one of only 9 homes on the private lake so they sell quickly. We’re putting ours on the market soon. I think mostly investors are buying the properties in our neighborhood.

His land is surrounded by four private property owners, I’m one of them. He has no legal way to get to his land on the ground.

There are three legal ways to access land in the western states. 1 - Public road, 2 - Easement 3 - A section line adjacent to the property where he can build his own road.

I sure as hell am not embracing communism, but would not mind seeing prices come down some so more buyers can afford homes.

aren’t the interest rate cuts more or less priced into the bond market?

The bond market does generally price in anticipated cuts.

“neighborhoods don’t normally reside “next to” cheap neighborhoods”

In IL, in unincorporated areas with less zoning/building restriction “cheap” and “expensive” are close to each other.

The whole purpose of zoning is to keep the cheap far away from the expensive. Of course, the exception to this in Gentryfying urban neighborhoods.

Florida and California have the most volatile realty markets.
