Continuing coverage: 2 dead in helicopter crash near Alton

First responders from multiple agencies responded Thursday to the Mississippi River near Alton, Illinois, after a helicopter crashed on a barge.

The chopper was part of a crew doing work on electric power lines over the Mississippi River. Apparently it somehow hit one of the lines.

Witnesses describe the chopper exploding, then falling in flames onto the barge. Luckily a towboat with firefighting capacity was nearby to put out the fire.

RIP to the crew, and prayers for their friends and families. :-(
