Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn is running for governor
Roll Call ^ | Aug 7 | By Mary Ellen McIntire

Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn launched her long-awaited campaign for governor Wednesday, becoming the second Republican from the state’s congressional delegation to enter the race to succeed term-limited GOP Gov. Bill Lee.

Blackburn, who hopes to become the Volunteer State’s first female governor, starts out as the front-runner after more than 20 years on Capitol Hill in both the House and Senate. She has tied herself closely to President Donald Trump, who won the deep-red state by 30 points last year.

“In his first six months, President Trump has made historic strides in Making America Great Again, but as he sends power back to the states, he’s going to need strong conservative governors who can bring that revolution home,” Blackburn said in a statement.

“I’m running to serve as Tennessee’s next governor to ensure Tennessee is America’s conservative leader.”

I hope she gets it (and 'we' get Sen. Burchett as he is quite good).

She's going no where in the Senate it seems so this makes sense and she ought to be hard to beat for governor.

Who is the MAGA person who can take her Senate seat? The last thing we need is another DeepStater, or worse a socialist Dem, in the Senate.

In the past I thought that Mark Green might be a future senator from Tennessee, but that was before the scandal about his affair and his divorce, and didn't know that he only intended to serve two terms in the House (until Trump talked him into going for a third term).

Many years ago when she was still in the House Blackburn voted in favor of a proposal to have another plebiscite in Puerto Rico over possible statehood. The Democrats are going to keep at it until they get 50.1% in favor of statehood, which I think is a bad idea. So I have had mixed feelings about Blackburn ever since.
