From Operation Mockingbird to 'lie of the century,' U.S. hasn't changed

The U.S. doesn't seem to have changed in its penchant to concoct unfounded allegations in order to advance its geopolitical goals, as suggested by critics, including its own lawmakers. From Operation Mockingbird to the fabrication of the "lie of the century," an unambiguous behavioral pattern perpetuated by successive U.S. governments has damaged Washington's credibility regarding its stated foreign policy goals.

During the Cold War, the U.S. government reportedly manipulated domestic American news media organizations for propaganda purposes. Its aim was to counter communist influence as part of its geopolitical fight against the Soviet Union.

In Operation Mockingbird, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) recruited journalists, editors and media executives as agents of influence, positioning them strategically within newsrooms. These agents played a pivotal role in shaping news coverage to align with U.S. government interests, disseminating disinformation and suppressing unfavorable stories.

The program's intent was to control the flow of information by promoting anti-communist sentiment, influencing international reporting and ensuring that the media reflected the government's narrative. Operation Mockingbird remains a controversial chapter in American history, underscoring the extent to which the U.S. government would trample its own constitution to serve its foreign policy agenda.

From Gemini AI: Operation Mockingbird is the name given to an alleged large-scale program by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that began in the early years of the Cold War. The program's goal was to influence and manipulate domestic and foreign news media for propaganda purposes, promoting U.S. foreign policy goals and countering Soviet influence.

Here are some key details about the program:

Goals: The CIA's Office of Policy Coordination, led by Frank Wisner, reportedly aimed to use propaganda to control public opinion both at home and abroad. Wisner allegedly referred to this as his "Mighty Wurlitzer," a metaphor for the CIA's ability to play public opinion like a well-tuned organ.

Methods: According to some reports, the CIA recruited leading journalists, editors, and media executives to act as agents of influence. These journalists, often working for major news outlets, would then plant fabricated stories, shape narratives, or pass along classified information disguised as leaks. Some of these individuals were reportedly paid for their work, while others collaborated due to their own anti-communist beliefs.

Revelations: The existence of such a program was revealed in part by the 1975 Church Committee hearings, which investigated abuses by the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies. The committee's report confirmed that the CIA had cultivated secret relationships with journalists. Later, a 1977 Rolling Stone article by Carl Bernstein claimed that over 400 U.S. journalists had secretly carried out assignments for the CIA.

Controversy and Debate: While there is evidence of CIA relationships with journalists, the specific details and scope of "Operation Mockingbird" are still a subject of debate. The CIA has denied the existence of a single, large-scale program with that name, but declassified documents do confirm a separate, smaller wiretapping operation called "Project Mockingbird" that targeted journalists to identify government leaks. The lack of specific details has led to various claims and theories about the program's true extent and nature.

I researched this in relation to the story of the major liberal news sources having financial difficulty after the USAID funding dried up. It appears that the Feds have been running a Color Revolution on the US since the Obama Administration. This might be the vehicle that they used to spread the disinformation of the Russian Collusion Story. Tulsi Gabbard mentioned this Operation in her description of the Russian Trump Conspiracy.

What is needed is whistleblower evidences of specifics that were actually done, as opposed to the general descriptions of the claimed activities. A for example would be: On MM-DD-YYYY agent ......(redxated) working as a journalist at The New York Times planted the false story that ....................”

But that is not the sort of “revelations” we are given. We are given anecdotal “this is the methods of what ‘they’ did”.

I classify the article as click bait.

It was from 2023. I thought it was interesting that Tulsi Gabbard mentioned it prominently and it does answer a lot of questions. I had 3 other sources, including Wikipedia, which I didn’t like as much as this one.

roflmao ALLEGED... LOL...

Not only did we go into Iraq under GW, but we went into Iraq under GHW Bush when we gave a tepid nod to Saddam to go into a small country. BUT, Maggie Thatcher told GHW he was a wimp, and we went to war. I am sure it helped BP petroleum everytime. More wars in Afghanistan, even against Serbia on the side of the Kurds... Muslims this time. Into Afghanistan, told soldiers that it was a custom for the men to rape little boys, respect it. We reopened the poppy fields, and forced women into town councils.. BIG mistake..
