Russia says it no longer will abide by its self-imposed moratorium on intermediate-range missiles

Russia has declared that it no longer considers itself bound by a self-imposed moratorium on the deployment of nuclear-capable intermediate range missiles, a warning that potentially sets the stage for a new arms race as tensions between Moscow and Washington rise again over Ukraine.

In a statement Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry linked the decision to efforts by the U.S. and its allies to develop intermediate range weapons and preparations for their deployment in Europe and other parts of the world. It specifically cited U.S. plans to deploy Typhoon and Dark Eagle missiles in Germany starting next year.

The ministry noted that such actions by the U.S. and its allies create “destabilizing missile potentials" near Russia, creating a "direct threat to the security of our country” and carry “significant harmful consequences for regional and global stability, including a dangerous escalation of tensions between nuclear powers.”

Lol, thanks for pointing out another treaty Putin broke

Tump withdrew the US from the treaty in 2019 stating "Russia has not, unfortunately, honored the agreement, so we're going to terminate the agreement".

Pompei stated, "Russia is solely responsible for the treaty's demise...during the mid-2000's, Russia developed, produced, flight tested and now has fielded multiple battalions of it's non compliant missiles".

Time enough for Putin to deploy some Oreshnik missiles in Cuba.

“U.S. plans to deploy Typhoon and Dark Eagle missiles in Germany starting next year”

Here we go again. Announcements of such came under xiden beginning a full year ago, culminating in more reports in December.

I have yet to see any rollback of such by DJT...

That would be breaking the agreement reached after the Cuban missile crisis -- you know, the one that says we won't invade Cuba if Russia doesn't put nuclear weapons there.

That agreement having been abrogated, presumably the Putinista crowd on FR would have no objection to an immediate US invasion of Cuba, because there's no moral difference between that and what Putin is doing in Ukraine.

Here you go cheering for Russia again.

Will FR Russophiles (really most of them are Russian nationals running an influence operation) be cheering the Russian side when/if there are open hostilities between the USA and Russia?

They are close to that now.
America and the rest of NATO, along with our global allies are opposing Russia and North Korea in this massive European war, with America being the most important supporter of the nation under attack, now look at who the Russia backers oppose and rage against, and who they support, cheer, defend, and promote.

Its been clear for some time. The current Russian operatives, unlike the Soviets who were bound by their Marxist-Leninist ideology, do not shy away from fanning malcontent (including legitimate criticism of globalism, open borders, etc) on the Right, including libertarian and paleo-Right and exploiting every grievance on all sides of the political spectrum.

There’s no clean-cut way to separate the wheat from the chaff. You can’t just ban internet traffic based on Russian IPs, the influence operators all know how to use a VPN. They may now use AI tools to appear as genuine Americans.

But watch what they say, they tend to rehash the same talking points over and over and over.
