ALL democrat appointees in the Federal govt need to be fired/replaced with MAGA republicans. Why hasn’t this already occurred?
Well in 2024 they overstated job growth by nearly a million jobs so they been skewering the numbers for awhile. Speaking from what I’ve seen people are hiring all over the place but who knows

She previously padded the Biden-Kamala job numbers during the 2024 Election.
Competence and qualified is a rare thing in D.C. more like organized confusion is the standard.
Probably because she joined “government” under W, has a perfectly fine and on point CV, and the head of BLS is simply charged with reporting statistics using publicly known formulas involving publicly available data sources, and doesn’t actually write any kind of policy.
It looks like Trump exemplifies that observation.

Point is she stayed way past her expiration date, which SHOULD have been January 20, 2025.
Why, because someone with a twitter account and a lot of followers should be in charge of BLS?
I don’t claim to be overly familiar with McEntarfer, but I do vaguely recall her from long ago (she co-authored a paper on TANF to Jobs transitioned I once threw in a leftist’s face when arguing about welfare). From everything I know of her - and yeah, most of this is just reading her CV - she’s a got a PhD in economics from Virginia Tech and seems like a government drone who has simply advanced under W, Obama, DJT1, and then Biden.
The BLS doesn’t even really write *policy* - except maybe on rare occasions where they recommend a methodology change (something that hasn’t really happened in a decade) for statistical reporting.
All this does is undermine confidence.
By all means - there are departments in the DOL where you’re damn right: I want a partisan conservative.
But the BLS? I suppose technically? I’d be OK with putting an AI agent in charge.... maybe you save a salary.
But the BLS reports aren’t magic. The data gathering, methodology, and formulas aren’t magic. They DO require some higher level understanding of statistics to grasp, but I don’t think the head of BLS is actually plugging away at a terminal.

While bls doesn't "write policy", their numbers are used to spin what's happening with the economy, and the performance of politicians....
So, when they spin that the economy has dropped of the face of the earth over the last 3 months, it's to make Trump's economy and economic decisions look bad
One would think they would have ousted her early on, someone dropped the ball. Same thing happened during his 1st term.
Competence and qualified are just two of his assets dealing with stooges.
NO he fired her because her numbers were false not because he did not like them. Love the NYimes choice of verbiage.
And their numbers aren’t magic or secret.
Because I’ve used them for various efforts - I can tell you that they have a fairly robust API where you can get the same raw data they plug into their model. And guess what? That same *model* isn’t secret anyway - if you wanted to bother duplicating the BLS reports... well, you’d be slower so why bother, but it’s actually pretty easy to check the math (just duplicative).
They’re not spinning anything - never have, not under the last 10 administrations.
In God I trust, all others must have data.
