PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. —
Officials with the Pickens County School District and Presbyterian College are responding to an "altercation" involving Daniel High School students during a Fellowship of Christian Athletes summer football camp at Presbyterian College in South Carolina.
Video of what appears to show the incident has been circulating on social media. Advertisement
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes released the following statement on Monday morning when we reached out to the organization:
"The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is aware of the incident that occurred at camp in South Carolina and took immediate action to address the situation, including sending the involved campers home. Their behavior falls unacceptably short of our standards of integrity, service, teamwork and excellence that FCA expects of all participants and has no place in our community.
"For over 70 years, FCA has upheld the highest standards of personal conduct, morality and sportsmanship for our coaches, athletes, campers and staff. We remain fully committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for every participant in our program."
The school district release the following statement on Sunday evening:
"The district leadership of the School District of Pickens County is aware of and investigating an altercation involving D.W. Daniel High School students during an off-campus football retreat held in Laurens County. The football retreat, though not during the school year, was a school-sponsored event, and we take matters involving student conduct at such events very seriously.
" We are following our own district disciplinary policies, adhering to our athletic policy (based on South Carolina High School League guidelines), and also cooperating with Laurens County law enforcement through their legal process. We want to emphasize that we fully recognize the seriousness of an altercation of this nature. While we are committed to helping our students learn and grow from their mistakes, we are also ensuring that appropriate consequences are administered in line with district policy and the law.
"Consequences have been and will be administered in accordance with district policy and athletic policy. Due to federal student privacy laws (FERPA), we are unable to share specific details regarding the students involved or the disciplinary actions taken.
"We are aware that there are multiple factors and perspectives in this situation and remain committed to a thorough and fair review of this situation, as well as an investigation of the football program as a whole. While we are committed to helping all our students learn and move forward, we do not downplay the fact that the altercation occurred. Ensuring a safe and respectful environment is a top priority, and we are addressing this matter with the seriousness it deserves, again, in line with district policies and the law."
We've reached out to Presbyterian College about the incident, and the college released this statement:
"On July 7, Presbyterian College Campus Police were notified of an incident involving minor high school students who were participating in a Fellowship of Christian Athletes summer football camp. "
"After an initial investigation of the incident, Campus Police followed protocol and referred the matter to the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice and the Eighth Circuit Solicitor’s Office. "
"There were no PC students or personnel involved in the incident, nor was the camp sponsored by the college. FCA was renting the college’s facilities. We do not tolerate any form of violence on our campus. We hope that due process and justice will be served appropriately "

Bear in mind this was a Fellowship of CHRISTIAN ATHLETES camp.
:-(
When I went to school, we never had any altercations and the police never came. We were a very weak school though, because strength comes from diversity, and we had none so we were exceptionally weak although our test scores were through the roof and we were perfectly peaceful. Sad.
Sue the parents for everything.
Yogi?
Yes, Boo-Boo.
Very fatigued
Were knives involved?
At least the adults running the camp dealt with it properly and sent the offending kids home.
The DNA can not be changed. The sooner we admit it again, the better. Anywhere, everywhere, at anytime, it is always the same.
Plural?
As soon as I read the headline, I thought, “black.” This behavior is nuts and is a huge disservice to all the good black people, so that they’re dealing with whites avoiding them, not wanting to do business with them, etc.
Chris Rock had it right, about the subset of blacks causing all the trouble, even though I can’t say his precise words out loud. Sad.
“Grand opening! Grand closing!”
More than one boy involved, so there will be plural parents.
Just wow! Two of my three daughters went to Daniel High School. It is a nice suburban school with a lot of parents employed by Clemson University. Just looking through her high school yearbook, I see their entire varsity wrestling team and 10 of the 15 varsity basketball is whitebread.
Most of them are there because mom just wants them out of the house. And mom raised a cain. You can multiply the chances of an altercation by darkness of skin color.
Our church had to ban one kid from children's church do to bad behavior , and the threats that came out of a 14 y.o.'s mouth would make make a sailor blush.
p.s 90% of the youth who show up at church are alone. Their parents are sending them for various reasons. I think most just want to get rid of them for couple of hours. Some might hope the church " fixes" their problem child.
Yet these parents dont know the first thing about Jesus and cant answer a 1st graders questions on faith.
College felt so much safer than high school. The reason is the people were there voluntarily. The students who caused problems in high school were there because they were required to be there by the government. They didn’t want to be there. Realistically, for the safety of the people who wanted to be in high school, those who didn’t want to be there should not have been forced to be there.
Reading between the lines, it sounds like they feel nothing really happened and they don’t plan to punish anyone but people found out about it so they need to acknowledge it.
I know how you feel.
It’s them again.
Re: “altercation”
White kid beaten to near death by a mob of blacks. Do I need to read the whole article?
