Kenneth Harris spent most of his days in Atlanta yearning for a life in a place where his dark skin color is not a source of suspicion, but a mark of a shared heritage. His chance came two years ago when he bought a one-way ticket to Kenya.
The 38-year-old retired veteran has found a community in the east African country’s capital, where he now runs an Airbnb business. He loves admiring Nairobi’s golden sunset from a rooftop terrace, and enjoys a luxurious lifestyle in a tastefully furnished apartment in an upmarket neighborhood.
Harris is part of a growing wave of African Americans who are relocating to Kenya, citing the need to connect with their ancestors — or “coming home,” a phrase often used among the Black community.

Most come racing back within 2 months.
If they’re truly happy there, more power to them. Everyone who declares their hatred for our country should join them.
He told me that they not only avoided the drug and gang distractions of modern American public schools, but came home with an entirely different perspective on life and culture. It was the best money he ever spent.
Hey, if they could turn the subcontinent into anything but the corrupt murderous diseased cesspool that it has always been, I'd be okay with it.
(We just need to stop allowing Liberals to erase all consequences for our criminal element, and keep them locked up longer.)
Having spent many years overseas I can say that 100% of Africans I have interacted with express attitudes towards American Blacks not unlike 1950’s Southern Whites.
No doubt the local blacks hate them with passion. They will return, like many before them, with tail between legs.
Not well thought out.
But, whatever floats your boat!
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Christians not welcome.
He’ll make sure he takes that fat US govt pension with him,as all expats do.
Hope he’s happy.
Yup—Black Americans are easy to spot in Africa.
They do not need to even speak one word.
The entitlement body language gives them away.

It’s been good to know ya ... kinda
“...source of suspicion...”
This is where the disconnect lives. People arrive in this country, just like they will arrive in Kenya, and try to change it. They display different images of themselves than what is the normal and then demand everyone else to accept it as such.
He enjoys, because of his past in the US, the ability to live in a luxurious lifestyle most Kenyans can’t afford and then wonders why their idea of making the country like what they had in the US gets them to that mistrust. They are mistrusted because they are different and want to stay that way demanding others accept it. But what they are really doing is exactly what they faced in the US and in time they will be like the people they hate here.

And why can't they create such schools in the USA?
Not surprisingly, also moving to Kenya are a large number of obese, redheaded, white females who wear hoop earrings.
Going to the nearest mud hole each morning to get a bucket of water for the day can be fun
Why send one's kids all the way to Ghana? And why can't they create such schools in the USA? I would agree with them that such schools for blacks do not exist in the USA (or rather, they do exist, but are not all black)
Why can't blacks create the same independent education options in their own home towns?
Although Christians are slaughtered in parts of the continent, Christianity is growing by leaps and bounds in Africa.
In Atlanta? And he was born in the 1980s? That doesn't ring at all true.
